👊🏽 this UI auto-hide feature is super cool! I didn't think it would be that useful in my work flow, but it really does create a relaxing zen-like browsing experience and helps to keep my eyes focused on what matters. Vivaldi rocks!

I must be missing something, but I don't understand the need or desire for this. I've flip flopped through browsers lately. I've used Firefox, Floorp, and now Brave in recent months. I find that Brave works best for me currently, it is fast.

I tried Vivaldi. I didn't like the design of it. I have given it various tries over the years, but I haven't really gotten into it.

It's the fact it prevents anything else in the browser being shown so you are not distracted thereby getting total immersion. Think of it like distracted driving. When you can go to prison for using a cellphone while driving then it's best to use Vivaldi's auto-hide UI technology instead.

Good to see all these features. Will try it out. Will be good if these features make their way to Safari and Chrome.

I never experienced this issue when using a browser. I don't like Vivaldi's design, because you cannot remove/disable the left sidebar.

"I'm envisioning a modern nightmare web page full of blinking ads and popovers everywhere... but no toolbar at the top..."

Vivaldi gives you the option at initial setup of blocking ads and tracking cookies, no separate browser extension needed.

Certainly you can. There are at least two ways to do so, and I've used both. You may not care to look at Vivaldi again, but if you are interested, download it, fire it up, and I can tell you the two places in Settings you can change this.

If this is truly the case, then I would be interested in that. I am using Brave right now because it is faster than Firefox, or Floorp.

Method 1: Settings > Panel > Panel Options, check "Show Panel Toggle," and toggle it off anytime you like.

Method 2: Settings > Appearance > UI Auto-Hide, check "Enable UI Auto-hide."

You can have both of these checked at once so even if you have auto-hide enabled you won't see the left sidebar on mouseover.

I have been looking into this. Seems like that works. How do I disable that border trim when I am windows? How do I set Brave as my search engine? I did that, but I have to enter into it twice to get to it which is annoying.

I have had issues with Vivaldi (unable to use Brave as the search engine) and other things. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong but how do I make Brave my search engine? That hasn't been working, and when I try uploading a custom image to be the start page background it stays a white blank screen.

My apologies, I have never used Brave search (Startpage or DuckDuckGo for me), nor tried a custom image. I don't know when you last tried the custom image, but I believe I recall the most recent Vivaldi release announcement saying something about background image changes. Sorry I could not be of more help.

After playing around with Vivaldi a bit, I have concluded that Brave is a better choice for a browser - in my case. I haven't had these weird errors and difficulties with it, that I have had with Vivaldi.
