Am I the only one who wants an actual Apple TV sets?

I also vaguely remember there were rumours of Apple TV sets with Router function built in. Dont know what happen to it.
What would you get out of a physical TV made by Apple that you don’t get out of buying a quality tv snd hooking up a Apple TV box to it?
Most people hold on to a tv way too long to make it worth‘s Apple time to sell them. Apple wants you to upgrade your Apple TV box with every new generation.

Two recurrent issues with my Vizio sets purchased several months back - a PX75-G1 and a PX65-G1:

1) occasionally when turning the TV on, there is no sound from the TV speakers - sources are AT&T U-verse boxes connected by HDMI
2) about one in three times attempting to smartcast HBO Max from an ipad, the smartcast icon on the pad fails to show so there's no way to select the Vizio as a display target

Both problems are solved by cycling power to the TV, a minor nuisance. But when smartcasting from the ipad works, its pretty good. HBO Max has stopped with an error message several times, but going back to the home screen and restarting the show gets things going again. Hopefully Vizio will provide native Apple TV and HBO Max apps soon that avoid having to smartcast.

Apple was trying to boost sales of a device they never sold or released? How does that work?

stocks.

Man, that's a house with no privacy.

Yes is does. See all that foliage?

The TV with smart features should be cheaper? (Cheaper than what? and why?)
Cheaper than TVs without it. Every single smart TV I have looked at is covered in non-removable ads. Some are less intrusive than others, but they all have it. Ads are a cost you pay for as long as you use the TV.

Also, they monitor viewing habits and share the data. Again, another cost the consumer pays for the life of the TV.

Returned new Vizio because it did not have Apple TV Plus APP. Vizio advertising is very obtuse concerning the APP.

A recent firmware update now prevents the TV from powering off when a CEC connected device turns off. For example, when I put my Apple TV to sleep, it will turn off my receiver but won't turn off my TV anymore.

It's a known issue that vizio has acknowledged on their support site but haven't fixed for month.

Oof.

Is this for the newer TVs? I have a VIZIO D43 from I think 2015(?) so it isn’t a Smart TV but, CEC has worked flawlessly for me. Power on and off. PlayStation and Apple TV. One thing I did have an issue with until it magically resolved itself was the built-in speakers would come in with a soundbar connected. This just stopped happening out of nowhere and seems to recur inadvertently once every like 9 months. I can deal. But never had an issue with CEC though I’m not sure my tv is subject to that lol.

If they are smart this will be available around the time Greyhound drops. That’s a week from Friday, Vizio. Might want to get on that.

I pity anyone who uses the built in software on Vizio TVs... it's BAD. Thankfully, I have an Apple TV 4K. Ironically I got it before I even had a 4K TV, somebody was selling an unopened one on Facebook Market Place and I was like... why not? Then I saw a 70 inch Vizio go on sale at BestBuy.ca for a grand CND. Which is a really good price for a 70 inch in Canada, turned out it was the 2017 mid range TV, which I knew would be getting HomeKit support soon!

So I bought it and I'm quite happy it combined with my Apple TV give me a very apple like experience, for a lot cheaper than I'm sure Apple would have ever sold a 70 inch for. Plus I say, "Hey Siri, turn off basement TV."
And Siri will respond with, "The Impractically Large TV is now off."

That doesn't make sense. If the smart TVs have ads that are making them money, they'd want those models to be cheaper so that you buy them and they can make money from the data, the purchases, rentals, and subscriptions.

I'm perfectly fine buying a "smart" TV and not having it hooked up to the internet....

I don’t understand. If I’m given the option between two devices, one with ads and software that spies on me and one without I would expect the one without would cost more.

Vizio has been great at backward compatibility but not at software release dates. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if my 2016 p50 gets Smartcast 4.0 earlier than mid September.

Took over a year for them to resolve my CEC issues but I give them credit for doing it.
