I used to use VLC for streaming content from Plex Server. Do you know any other free app to do that?

i am looking for app which allows me to play mp4 or avi video at speed of 1.5-2x
the best if it allows me to set the speed as i wish,e.g. maybe 1.75x..
any recommendations???

I have used VLC for long time and works very well. Hopefully will be able to download to my new MacBook Pro soon.

I was looking for VLC app too because that's what I use in my laptop. I'm not sure if there's any way to download it now.
But I got to try a lot of apps while looking for alternative, nplayer is the best one for me. Maybe you can try that one too. :)

I use nPlayer as my go to video player now - streams from my MythTV backend, my Plex Server, etc. Works very well. It also has variable speed playback.

Being able to stream from a lot of different servers is what really got me to try this too.

VLC fans rejoice!

Good news! - Well, not as good as having VLC back at the AppStore but you can install VLC for iOS through Pgyer using this link on your iPhone/iPad: http://www.pgyer.com/videolan
It installs the app by resigning it using in-house certification & delivers as expected.

Here's why I'm going back to VLC from Infuse:
-Completely free including playback of Full HD MKV (Infuse requires Pro)
-Elegant UI
-Playback Speed Control
-Ability to watch videos while having files transferred to the app via WiFi
-Google drive/ Dropbox sync
-AirPlay support

Bye Infuse, It's been a nice ride. But VLC's back! :p

Keep in mind that this is exactly the means that the WireLurker malware was spread. Installing apps this way is ill-advised at best.

That's exactly why I said that it's not as good as having the app off AppStore. Besides, I've been using the app for the last 5 days & don't seem to have any issues at all.

Plus, unlike the WireLurker scenario, you are not required to install any provisioning profiles or certificates of any sort. You directly install the app. If anything could happen (nothing will) as you say, it would just be within the app thanks to Sandboxing.

vlc for ios

AS far as I can tell, the free version of VLC has disappeared in favour of a paid version. Who the hell are Stefan Konrad Bittner and/or Oren Nilgun that he can get paid for a free app I don't think he wrote? Something fishy in the state of Apple....

You're completely wrong with that statement. VLC for iOS is not available as a paid version in the App Store.
