Not to pimp (as I am a VLC user as well)... but CorePlayer Mobile for the iPhone will be available on the AppStore soon after its launched. See the video demo from back in Feb. here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx-Vp3IVjbg

It will support:

Audio: MP3, MP2, WMA, AAC, MKA, Midi, WAV, APE, OGG, Speex, WAVPACK, TTA, FLAC, MPC, AMR, ADPCM, ALaw, MuLaw, G.729, GSM

Video: H.264 (AVC), AVCHD, MKV, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 part 2 (ASP), DivX, XviD, WMV, MJPEG, MSVIDEO1

Containers: Flash/FLV, Matroska, ASF, ASX, AVI, PS, M2TS, TS, 3GPP, MOV, MPEG-4, OGM, NSV

Streaming: HTTP, UDP, UDP Unicast, RDP, RTP. RTSP, RTCP (keep alive), ASX, ASF, Multicast, HTTP Tunneling

Also we are adding an embedded RSS Reader and and Twitter Component for the iPhone launch. The staff here at CoreCodec will be at WWDC doing demos... if anyone wants to get together for us to show it... just send me a PM.

Ummm, what's the price comparison of CorePlayer versus VLC?

live audio streams ?

with the arrival of the VLC, does this mean that iphone will play

live audio (radio) streams that usually stream through windows

media player ?

kind regards

I imagine this will suck batteries like there's no tomorrow (and possibly make the device rather warm?), but it's definitely great for people who want the option of using other codecs. Thumbs up.

Has anyone heard about Perian being developed for the iPhone/touch?

I would imagine that Perian would be about as bad as any of the others... Any format that doesn't take advantage of the built-in H264 hardware will rely on the processor a LOT more. Probably not worth letting it make lunch of your battery life.

Still, nice to know if/that it could, though.

I would love this for video streaming. Keep my iMac on at home, watch my films on my iPhone via 3G. I'd like that.

That's exactly what I'd like to do with it.

We are a few weeks behind as we wanted to add more features that we originally had planned. With that we are planning to submit it for the AppStore by months end (September).

Great. I can watch my rmvb movies on the iPhone without converting them!! Yippeee!!!

omg this will be the greatest thing ever made for an iphone. it plays almost every format. i have it for my mac and i love it more than my family.

i agree with kanness i love this program it is the jack of all trades

Take your time, get it right, get it stable. After all, its only the single best app for Mac OSX ;)

And soon to be the single best app for the iPhone. Please say video playlist is one of these features. Oh please oh please. :D

with apple's latest actions towards developers, I strongly doubt that your coreplayer will be released. It has too much of the same functionality of iTunes. Talk about letting competition create quality apple

I love VLC on my PC.

Just FYI: You can already do video playlists on at least 2.1 firmware.

Search macrumors for my entry containing:

'Playing Video in Portrait mode' in the

iPhone 2.1 Update, new & undocumented features/fixes screenshots (Updated constantly) thread

for more video madness...

Sounds really interesting.. :) I have always liked VLC and now when it's on iPhone .. :) Yay!

This was absolutely TERRIBLE.

Quite disappointed with Divx/Xvid playback.

Absolutely awful.

Awesome news!

VLC is great! Why is there such a long wait? We need this now!

It's already available. I wish you guys would quit posting how great it is and try it out on the iPhone. It's terrible.

oh, if VLC app could be on iPhone, the media playback issue could never be an issue. i'm new here, but excited to hear about this. but where is it now?
