"Unity — The seamless way to run Windows applications: Run Windows XP applications alongside your favorite Mac applications"

Is it possible that it's not compatible with Windows 2003?

I would suspect that to be the case. I know not all apps work on Windows Server 2003; although usually that's due to the difference in NTFS versions between XP and 2003.

Just a Question for all,
I have being running the 3rd beta from VMware with Great success on 10.4.9. This morning i updated to 10.4.10 and also installed the the 4th beta from VMware. I have lost the ability to connect/adjusted external connections eg usb/cd-dvd drives and shared folders under VM. Trying Unity also sends the App into a spin. I have tried reinstalling, and also followed their instructions on VM tools, still no success. I am going to try some other approaches, but i am curious if any one else has had similar experiences.

Cheers,
Marvin.

Okay, I'll bite... how do you get QuickSilver to launch Windows apps inside of VMware?

I just guess it worked for VMWare, as it did with Parallels...sorry if I was wrong, gut reaction post...

Surely there is a folder with the Windows apps for QS to search?

can someone with VMware installed try running the XP app Irfanview?

It's my favorite lightweight image viewer / editor. It's the app I miss the most.

It can be found here:

http://www.irfanview.com/

It runs pretty well in single window/fullscreen. Although, when using it in Unity mode, browsing through the menus can be a bit irritating.

The screenshot attached was converted from png to jpg using Irfanview.

Run bootcamp if you want to play games. It isn't realistic to expect to run multiple operating system simultaneously and expect high performance gaming.

Did you ever resolve this?

I haven't yet installed or activated XP, but I was thinking of activating it in Boot Camp (with the idea that I could use the same Windows installation with Boot Camp, Fusion and also Parallels if I later switch to that).

Nope. Haven't gotten around this yet.

Nope. Haven't gotten around this yet.

*not that i condone software piracy one bit*, but this issue of having to reactive each time that you go from bootcamp back to your virtualized bootcamp via fusion almost makes you want to just use a cracked version of windows.. i mean that has to be the most frustrating "bug". i just recently wiped my parallels xp install inf favor of installing xp through bootcamp, too bad i read about these activation/reactivation issues too late.

*sigh*

hoipefully parallels and/or vmware will fix that.

vmware fusion unity question

i can't run unity I assume this will help me drag drop folders between mac and windows..
I can't install vmware tools because it tells me tha the guest must not run...

what i have is:
macbook pro 15,4 2,5
and i'm trying to set up winows vista ultimate

can someone indicate step to step what can i do to install vmware tools and finally can use unity?

thanxx

sorry if I sound noob but i just bought mac and i try to figure it out...
