VMware has now published a document that confirms they won't support macOS guests on Apple Silicon in Fusion at all.
Fortunately, there’s VirtualBuddy.

It’s quite new and still in beta but already works great, it’s completely free and open-source.

There are a few tools that do macOS virtualization on Apple Silicon. I use the snapshot features in Fusion all the time when testing software deployments and installations, which is a feature I think Parallels has but not the free tools. Maybe they'll be coming eventually.

Yeah, I miss snapshots in VirtualBuddy as well. Unfortunately, Parallels does not have them either (for macOS guests on Apple Silicon, that is).

I've been running Parallels on an M1 16" for a while. I'm a CAD user, and while it seems like Solidworks now runs, others (Creo for instance) don't. Windows 11 ARM is surprisingly good, but I can't figure out where the issues lie with 3D programs not running. From what I can tell, it's in the emulation layer not having the correct binaries. Anyone have any insight? Could also be graphics related.

I have a cloud VM that I'm running from my M1 machine that works fine. It would be great to figure all of this out eventually though...and for the record, I'm running a Mac because there are certain parts of my workflow that only run on MacOS. It's also nice to have a new challenge to figure out.

I don't expect that VMWare will run anything that wouldn't run in Parallels. In the past, Parallels was a ton better for 3D programs/engineering software, but if there's any proof that's not the case I'd switch.

Some cursory searching suggests Creo 3.0 will still run, suggesting this is an issue with Windows's x64 (as opposed to x86) emulator.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that as well, which is why I'm also leaning on the x64 emulation as the issue. Also gives some hope that there is the possibility of improvements to the x64 emulation allowing more stuff to run. It would be nice if there was some technical insight into what is going on in its development, but I can't really find anything...

While I can't find any info to this effect, I wouldn't be surprised if the 22H2 betas have a newer version of the emulator, so that might be worth a shot.

The full VMware Tools don’t work yet. I just installed the provided network and graphics drivers using PowerShell as described in the readme file and the user guide.
Where's that readme file? I don't see any on the VMware download page nor in the DMG file.

Anyone have an effective temporary solution for working on the same files from both the Windows and Mac side in the absence of working Shared Folders?

Also, the display doesn't look great (kind of fuzzy?). On a MBP Max 16" . Any advice on settings? Parallels looked a lot crisper.

Do you need to buy a windows arm license or has this been released for free?
Microsoft doesn't sell specific licenses for "ARM" versions of Windows. For me, I used a Windows 10 Pro license I was using on an old Intel Windows VM, and it activated fine.
