well despite the dealer telling me the 1.6 has no 'cheat code' he lied!

Unless forced to, my TDI will not be visiting a VW dealership anymore.
If forced to by the government, my VW will be in the shop every week since it would no longer be running right after they *fixed* it.
What exactly is the appeal of a diesel small car to begin with? I can see the value on a heavy duty truck, but is it necessary for a car?
You don't get the 1.6tdi? Please tell me you at least get the dsg gearbox
Yep great mileage for me also. Drove from London to Euro Disney starting with a full tank (est mileage 600 miles to empty) stayed about 6 miles outside the park and drove back and forwards each day for 4 days before needing to fill up then drive back and had just under a quarter of a tank.Driving from Lafayette (2 hours west of New Orleans) to Orlando [690 miles] on 1 tank of fuel for one; or when I visit family in DC [1100 miles], stopping only once to fill up.
No dealer servicing for you then. After getting my letter anything below 2ltr will require mechanical work and the dealer has to perform the work if the car is in its workshop.Same with my Beetle; and since my state doesn't have emissions testing (except for a small area of the state) if the gov't wants my software reprogrammed, they can toss off.![]()
That's not hard. Plenty of competent VW indies out there who do better work than most dealers! No dealer servicing for you then. After getting my letter anything below 2ltr will require mechanical work and the dealer has to perform the work if the car is in its workshop.
