On the former Edge program, Verizon would credit each line on Edge by $15 or $25, depending on how big your data plan was. So in my case w/ a 15GB plan, the $40 per-line fee dropped down to $15 per-line for each phone on Edge. Is this "rebate" system going to continue if you finance the phone thru Verizon? (which is essentially what Edge was) I haven't found anything to say one way or the other ...

It will, but it'll just be a $20 credit/discount--basically $40 for subsidized/contract phones, and $20 for financed/owned phones.
