The Galaxy S3 can do every cell phone and data frequency known to man in a single chip! What don't u understand?

You think just because two random posters say the S3 has global LTE we're going to believe you? Nope.

Get a source officially saying this and we will talk. Until then you could just be talking out of your ***!

The official source was posted already.
Qualcomm... you know, the guys who make the damn chip, they say it can do it.
Samsung cannot remove the feature since it's baked into the SOC.

I wouldn't go that far. It does a lot, but it does not support "every cell phone and data frequency known to man". ;)
No single chip does.

Yes, this broadband chip has the LTE FDD/TDD CAT3 capabilities.

However, besides software, that's not all that's necessary for it to work.

We do not know if all the related amps and filters are included.

Many phones over the years have had multimode chips, but were missing the ancillary hardware to make all the modes usable, because the carrier or manufacturer didn't want to pay for it.

Caveat: I have not looked at what freqs are necessary.

The fact is, this broadband chip has world mode LTE capability.

This is very true.
We still don't know what frequencies are being enabled hence my previous statement to PacificBeach.

Samsung has provided the necessary hardware in the North American SGS2 GSM variants (I727, I727R and T989) to allow them to be used on pretty much any North American GSM carrier (DC-HSPA+ and LTE). It's a simple matter of flashing the radio firmware to enable proper carrier support.
T989 and I727/R owners have been doing this for a while now.

I suspect they did the same thing with the North American version of the GS3 since it simplifies production lines. Simply flash the modem firmware based on the carrier it will be headed to.

There aren't many countries outside of the U.S that have the ability to use LTE so global LTE doesn't really exist outside of U.S and Canada. Most other countries use GSM bands.

In order to support LTE in most of the upcoming european networks, you would need a chip that supports 800, 1800 and 2600Mhz bands.

Off topic: Whenever I see one of these threads that posters get into silly little semantics wars I wait for kdarling to post. I may not always agree with kdarling, but I am always assured he/she has done the homework and is speaking from a solid background.

Back on topic. Who cares if the S3 can do everything, the only question should be, what devices/phones works in YOUR environment and which ones fit YOUR needs. After that it's all preference so get what you want. I choose the iPhone, some choose the S2/3. If it works for you, more power to ya!

Oh here we go again, my phone is better than your phone. can your iPhone do THIS? etc.

Android users, always trying to spread the word on the iPhone forum. Every time it turns into a bitchy slanging match lol

Its clear that PacificBeach created this post to start, yet again, another battle of wills between the Fandroids and iSheep (as you android lovers like to call us). Unfortunately the admin are perfectly happy with this kind of thing it seems.

Oh and to stay on topic, I cant see that many people would even care if either phone has global LTE or not.

The irony of that is that should you go to a android forum they will swarm you and will tell you to get out. Good to know we are the bigger people and aren't so rude. ;)
