Uh if your phone is not repairable, Apple gives you a replacement. Express replacement from Apple is single-handedly worth AC+. Never have to go to an Apple Store again. Genius Bar appointments are always 7-10 days booked in advanced in my area. I call AppleCare and have a new phone within 36 hours. Then I send the old one back.

SquareTrade is still more expensive. Why pay $99 for a replacement screen deductible through SquareTrade if you can for $29 with Apple.

Do they waive the Fedex fee they use to charge with express replacement?

I have Verizon insurance, is it worth it to switch to Apple care +? Ive never had it. Always thought Verizon was better to do theft or lost coverage.

Florida here and I've always purchased AppleCare over the phone. They transfer me to a special unit and then they send the diagnostic link to my phone and then let me purchase it over the phone. I've purchased it for the last 4 phones.

I went through that diagnostic link as well, and by the time I got to the very end they asked me for my ZIP Code which was Florida and they said sorry, but you'll have to bring the phone into an Apple store to get apple care plus. As I mentioned earlier, I have done this twice now. So you may have just got lucky

There is no fee to use express replacement if you have AC+. Its included.
Thanks. Last time I chatted about a replacement, they really pushed me to go to a store. I had to say no about 5 times. I guess I will just say I am incapacitated from now on.

They always tell me to go to the store as well. I tell them I will if they find me an appointment within 36 hours at any of my 5 local stores. Its an impossible task. You're lucky to get one 5 days out.

Yeah, I guess they want to save the shipping costs. If I wanted to go to a store I would have, that's the whole point of express replacement.

I just purchased AppleCare+ over the phone about 2 hours ago, and I live in Florida with Florida zip code for billing and everything.

Once they realized I use a Florida address (after they do remote diagnostics to confirm my phone is in working order they asked for my billing address) they transferred me to an Apple Agreements specialist who, after verifying my serial number and my billing address, sent me an email for payment.

Payment processed fine, and about 30 minutes ago I received an email from Apple saying my AppleCare+ has registered and it is now active.

I bought my 7plus at Verizon and approximately 7 days later I purchased AppleCare on the Apple website. They did a diagnostic test and emailed me a short time later to say I was covered. Very easy process.

AC+ doesn't cover loss/theft.

If you buy AC+ annd pay for the Asurion Wireless Protection Plan (WPP) = $7.15/mo rather than Total Mobile Protection (TMP) at $11/mo, you still get the loss/theft protection. Here is how much it would cost for 2 years:

Asurion WPP = $7.15 x 24 = about $172

AC+ = $129

Total = $301

The Asurion WPP deductible is $150 for the base model iP7 and $200 for higher storage iP7 models and the iP7+.

If you pay for Total Mobile Protection (TMP), here is how much it would cost for 2 years:

$11 x 24 = $264

With TMP you get Asurion WPP + deductible free extended warranty + tech coach. Tech coach is worthless, it simply allows you to call 611 and get help with apps, lol! Complete waste of money.

However, in some states Verizon also offers Total Equipment Coverage (TEC) for $9/mo, which is the Asurion WPP + deductible free extended warranty without the worthless tech coach.

$9 x 24 = $216

TEC is the best value but Verizon's certified like new replacement devices are awful, just total crap. Nothing at all like the Apple refurbs.

So for my family, we do just AC+ for the adults and then self-insure for loss/theft. The younger people get AC+ + Ausrion WPP.

As has been mentioned before, if you sell your device, trade it in or lose it before the 2 years are up, you can get the remainder of the AC+ refunded to you minus a 10% cancelation fee in some states.

Also, some states charge sales tax on the AC+, TMP, WPP and TEC. In addition, Verizon calculates the FUSC based on the total bill including any charges for WPP/TMP/TEC.

One additional point - if you pay your Verizon monthly bill with a Wells Fargo credit card you get theft and accidental damage protection for a $25 deductible for the first 4 lines that appear on your bill.

Thanks for all that info!
So if I don't go the self insured route, your advice is to drop the TMP and pickup the AC+ and the WPP?

I'll just add that Ac plus covers the accessories too. The cables, EarPods, charger, adapter.

That says you have a year to purchase AppleCare Protection Plan. It says nothing about AppleCare Plus. They are different. ACPP is simply a second year of warranty. AC+ is a second year of warranty plus 2 accidental damage claims.

Ah gotcha. I missed that bit. Thank you!!!!
