When it comes to iPhone I would say wait. you know there will be an update in September... It's not like waiting for a Mac update where it can be pushed back and you could be stuck waiting god knows how long.

I was torn. Hubby and I like to upgrade at the same time so we're on the same upgrade cycle and hubby's 6s battery is really declining. If we waited for the 8/Edition to come out, by the time we actually got it his phone might not hold a charge at all. I am also sometimes leery of new hardware, I have a 7+ for me and 7 for hubby coming this week. By the time we're eligible for another upgrade, all the kinks will be worked out! Best of both worlds!

Except yields and new features mean "this year" translates to 12.31.17 and beyond. Expect iOS 11 to take 6 more months to smooth out bugs.

I have the same question. My daughter's iPhone 6 just went south. I can get a significantly discounted iPhone 7 or 7+ through work, but I only get to do that every 2 years. If I use my discount on a 7, I won't be able to use it for an 8, when they become available (might be months...January maybe through work?). I was thinking of upgrading and giving my iPhone 6+ to my daughter, as it's in perfect condition. What to do?

Why dont you wait till it launch .. If iphone 8 nothing new like you care then buy 7 at that time plus it will drop price too, if you dont mind wait another 2 week to see how iphone 8 look.......

Do what I just did if your married. Bought a new 7, Red, today to replace an original 6. Paid in full. When the 8, anniversary, whatever hits, I'll pick one up and give the 7 to the wife. :D

For reference, I can't believe how much quicker and overall nicer the 7 is than my 6. Loving it so far and very happy with the purchase.
that doesn't work if your wife (like mine) is a tech nerd. lol

If you need a phone now, pick up a cheap SE or lightly used 7/7 Plus on Swappa or similar. If it's just an urge to buy something, wait.
