Hopefully, but all those products have been about one year from inception. Their computers have been all over the place, generally clumped towards the beginning or the end of the year. I think that there's something to be said that they're moving to one year cycles, i'm just merely stating the fact that until apple decides that's what they want to do, and it's made evident in release cycles, it's anyone's bet.

Well, OS X has not. And jobs said the MacBook Air is the future of notebooks. And last year the MacBook air launched with lion. So I think it's a good conclusion that Macs from now on will begin a one year cycle.

So the fact that Steve said that the Air was the future of laptops, and that the Air was released with the newest operating system is your argument. If I ever get in a bind, I want you to be my lawyer good sir. :). You can't say what Apple is going to do with any certainty at all, unless you work for apple, but if you were posting things like this on the internet, then you wouldn't work for them anymore..

No, my argument is it's pretty obvious that they will go to a one year cycle. Apple is a company of patterns. It's very easy to see this pattern forming.

I never said that you were wrong, just that you can't know for certain - nobody can.

Buy a cheap net book to get you through until July.

Buy an MBA now, and sell it used later this year when it's time to buy a new one. MacBooks hold their resale value so well that this may well be cheaper than the initial price of a netbook. Consider the buy-sell differential just the cost of renting a nice MBA for a few months.

The machine your buying now is quite capable and it will still be capable after the upgrade. Your also right that the cycle is never ending, there will always be something better around the corner. But I don't think that Ivy Bridge will render yours obsolete and the performance boost would probably be marginal at best. I say if your ready and need one now then pull the trigger. In the end MacRumors adage hold true, if you need one buy now, if not then wait.

i give up the waiting .. i dont have a mac at this moment and need a 13" with high resolution. So that's a mac air. it has all the features that i need.

have been waiting for 3 months. Can be june now. Prices of the ivy are still unclear. plus it can take a month or 2 to make the new 13" availible in the netherlands + good stock. Plus there can be small startup issues with the new ivy bridge. As seen with the ipad 3 and iphone 4.

gonna work with the air 13" for a few months, if i like the new 13" i will sell it and buy the new one before the end of this year..

So thats out :)
