I caved. I have a 15inch 2014 MBP. A speaker is blown, I can barely manage a zoom call and recently it fell off a table so the screen is now also toast.

I need a computer for my business which is why it made sense for me to get one. But I didn’t get a 16 inch MBP. I got a. M1 13 inch MBP, but I’ll just repurpose this for a colleague when the new machines arrive. To me it makes no sense whatsoever to buy an intel machine unless you need something only it can offer.

Don’t blame you with the filings appearing in the Eurasian database for the iPhone today (3 months ahead of launch) and no sign of MacBook filings it’s looking more and more likely of an end of year launch for the new MBP’s.

Is there a reason the MBP filings would need to happen the same day?

Apple isn’t going to release Monterey with AS-only features with no 16-inch capable of running it. No chance.

I am just pointing out that if apple have filed the iPhones 3 months ahead of launch, but haven’t bothered filing the MBP as of yet, it seems very unlikely the MBP’s are coming before the iPhones as many are speculating at the moment.

I think the new MBP model identifiers may already be in the Eurasian database. There was a batch of eight Macs filed back in October of last year, and we’ve only seen four of the eight so far to the best of my knowledge. Even the recently released iMacs were filed in October - they may have locked down the model identifiers for the redesigned MBPs and other ASi machines then as well.

Thats interesting checking the model identifiers, and of those 9, 6 have been used to date...

If that’s the case wouldn’t the same apply to the 27 inch iMac also??

Apple can only release what they can when it’s ready, and with chip shortages, miniLED production issues, covid restrictions it’s highly likely Apple won’t have a choice but to launch Monterey before the higher end Macs come to the table unfortunately.

Nice - thank you for doing the more thorough and accurate ground work. Two of those three could be the MBPs! And the third could be the high-end Mac Mini!

Yeah definitely, also… having a look online there is conflicting reports of what the model numbers are but the ones which were different still haven’t been used as of yet…

But we do have quite a few Mac’s due to be released before the June 2022 deadline…

iMac 27”
MBP (High end models)
Mac Mini (High end)
Mac Pro

Plus we have these rumoured for early next year also…

Refreshed Entry MBP
Refreshed Entry MBA

I was so hoping the new 16” would be accounted at WWDC but oh well. I’m wondering if I should upgrade now to the current 16”. I’d be upgrading from at 2014 MBP. All I really use it for is work stuff, Microsoft Apps, Browsing, and email. I can’t remember the last time I ran video and encoded it, but its been years. So - just upgrade to the current 16 or wait. ?
As a former owner of the current 2019 16" MBP ... I would suggest that you stay as far away from it as possible. It was a nightmare. Just look at the number of threads that start "16" MBP + issue du jour". The problems with the 16" MBP Intel seem endless to me. Without a doubt, it was the worst Apple product I've ever bought...and I've bought a LOT since 2005.

If my 13" M1 MBP is any indication, I expect the upcoming 16" ARM based machine to be stellar.

The OP says he likes a 16-inch screen, so a bunch of people recommend a 13-inch. Strange.
In a state of fake reviews and shills, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple and the method they mod their own forum go into others to subvert it.
