YOU DON'T ANNOUNCE A PRODUCT THAT ISN'T GOING TO BE AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KILL SALES OF A SIMILAR PRODUCT.

THEY WON'T ANNOUNCE ANOTHER IPHONE IF IT'S NOT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE RIGHT AWAY, BECAUSE THAT WOULD KILL 3G SALES.

And you can just buy it now, remember, you have 30 days to return the phone, you would only have to pay a restocking fee, and you wouldn't miss any of the sweet iPhone loving :p

Or you could bring retro-chic to the table and buy an iPhone 3G regardless of a new model release.
:)

I mean, when you think about it, its not like you cant buy now then upgrade when the next model comes out sometime later this year or the next.

Attempting to "keep up with the Jones' " will just leave you with buyers remorse and a large credit card debt.

I'm in the same position - I bought an iPhone from AT&T premier online for upgrade that just arrived yesterday. I had forgotten MacWorld was 2weeks away or I would have waited (I still have an old free Moto Razr and have never had an iPhone before)

It's still sealed/shrink-wrapped and I was thinking maybe I should wait 6 days until the keynote speech to open it b/c once opened I'd have to pay restocking right? I figure it'd be easier to replace if still sealed? If they come out with 32gb for the same price or something I'd really be hating buying it one week before. If they do a pricematch I guess I could just do a credit card price adjustment?

I wonder what happens if I wait for a week to activate it since it was an upgrade - will it be a problem with AT&T or my billing? Does leaving it sealed and not activating it make exchanging it really easier? It will be 12 days to 1/6 since my purchase on 12/25 (but it just arrived 12/30).
