I have to admit the only things putting me off buying are the battery life and reported temps of the CPU getting unto 90+ oC. I like everything else about the machine...

Does anyone have any links to reviews where they have tested battery life compared to rMBP 13 inch and the two Macbook Airs (2014 or 2015 versions)?

Honestly, those two things should be non-issues.

And once that comes out there will be something you don't like... then you'll be waiting for rev 3.

This is very true. I think honestly people are expecting this to at some point have an i5 or i7 in some mythical future version and they are going to be disappointed.

Laggy? UI? On the Macbook?

Are we using the same machine, or are these posts simply paid by other OEMs (as we know happens quite a bit--I guess it's a way to make a buck)?

I came from a 2013 i7 1.7 Ghz 8 GB 512 GB MBA.

This beats it hand down for me. The display alone is worth it, and I just came back from a 7000 mile road trip with it and used the dongle perhaps once.

For those on the fence--go for it. The 11 inch MBAs are great, as are the 13 inch rMB Pros. There is a laptop for everyone.

For me, and for what I do, can't beat this one.

Without hesitation, I'm waiting for the second gen model. They're always better.

All too often I've caved, bought the first one and regretted it.

As recently as iPhone 6 I caved, knowing better yet going for it anyway, the frustration is simply not worth it. Oh sure others argue that it can be sold for a good price, but I detest the loss of time and focus that involves.

Should be, I'm just so used to my devices running cool these days that the temps reported by people for the rMB are putting me off purchasing... I just feel the current generation Core-M in the rMB is running hot

Grab a chisel and put that on a stone. Remember, the MBA really didn't get everything dialed in until 2013, and it was introduced in 2008. That doesn't mean that the intervening revisions weren't great computers - they were and many are still in use. It will be the same with the rMB.

I'm definitely looking forward to what the 2nd, or even 3rd revision of the new MacBook is like. It'll be another 1.5 - 2 years before I start looking at getting a new computer and I'm thinking of going with a laptop from now on. By 2017 I'd mostly like the entry price of the MacBook to be lower, $999 would be nice. Other than that wireless charging would be neat, as would a second USB C port (although I doubtful that will happen). By then there should also be a ton of third party USB C adapters, hubs, etc. available.

Most of the apps I use for work are web based and don't require a lot of horse power. So I think it's a form of missing out by wanting CPU power that will never be used.

I think the next 5 years are going to be pretty interesting for macs.
