Noticed there's also a 23" Dell all-in-one in a similar chassis, called the optiplex 9010. Only seems to be available for business for some reason in the UK. The i7 option with HD 4000 graphics doesn't look too bad, might consider this if the iMac isn't updated soon.

Not any, no, but the Dell is. To me, I see the Dell's characteristics as 98% the same as the iMac, but then again I am a product designer so I see and analyze those details.

98%? Really, look harder.

Dells have their place and their following. I am sure that there is a forum for that. Do Dell fanboys, if there are any, wait impatiently for redesigns and updates? Do they count the days until the next refresh? No? There is probably a reason for that.

iMac Psychosis:

People who have waited for 2012 iMacs long enough that any reasonable alternative to the desktop triggers emotional pain, causing them to bash the alternative, as it would otherwise make them rethink the time and suffering they wasted waiting and trusting Apple to provide them with a new iMac.

No, it is not bashing the alternative as there is no true alternative; particularly if you are a creative pro who uses Apple systems. The pain in the Mac Pro forum is even more deep. Students, casual users, etc., who are not so invested in the Mac system and they can switch at will. Often these threads are started by trolls, no need to feed them.

That Dell is a decent looking AIO to be honest. Even the screen is identical in resolution. One of a kind, not quite an iMac, but appreciable.

One thing though, how in the world Dell put GT 640M in it? If one wants to compete with Apple, why not do it rightly?

Put 4 RAM slots and GTX680M in it so it can lift the finger in front of iMac. Such. Terrible. Effort.

How powerful is the 640m compared to the 680m/current imac cards?

They recently unveiled updated desing of same AIO which can be converted to Surface computer to take advantage of Windows 8 multi-touch functionality.

Don't understand why this is ripping off the iMac. Are you suggesting that any AIO PC with a similar form factor is an apple rip off.

I don't know if you were aiming this at me?
But... no, not at all, look at the Vaio AIO's, absolutely gorgeous, innovative, and using original design ideas. Really nice looking AIO's. If you honestly cannot see the similarities between this Dell and the iMac/TBD then I just don't understand where you are coming from. Fair enough if that is how you feel, design is subjective, but to me, and I imagine many others, it is a massive rip.

I am not bashing Dell/Windows either. I was strongly considering an Alienware laptop to use with my MacBook, I still may do it. I am just pointing out that it looks very similar.

Breaks every update? Not really. Google Boot-132, it doesn't break after every update.

Right. If you can be bothered swapping around various kexts and other such files in order to get basic functionality, then that's great. I prefer a machine that works out of the box.

And the Dell, Asus and some other PCs out there aren't ugly.

Yes, but I was referring specifically to this model. Which is hideous, in my opinion.
