Waiting for Quad Core 27" iMac - Australia

Yeah its been quite a journey, and its helped the end of the year come faster i guess 🙂

Ill sacrifice a few beers tonight to the TNT courier gods and hope that i get a call in the morning 🙂

Cool, im assuming the imac has an on button and a power plug somewhere, the rest should be trivial i guess 🙂. If you use strafe in COD4 il chuck a hissy fit and disconnect. None of that fancy stuff for me. Tactic is find a big gun and run around with it... Thats assuming we work out how to connect the game to each other 🙂

Mate power cord middle of the back, and power button back left. Plug in your ethernet cable back right. That is about as hard a macs get. I think most people who switch initially have trouble because they try and overt think it, after using windows for so long. Mate if a simplton like me can use them, they can't be that hard.

There are lots of little tips and tricks for when you get used to them, but basic operation is simple. If you can see it, double click it and it will open. You want it somewhere else, click, drag drop. I am pretty sure the newer windows are not much harder than this anyway. 😀

This is really starting to piss me off.

I was told by Apple yesterday that my imac was going to be shipped to Adelaide from Sydney yesterday. I spent the day down at marion doing shopping etc, i went into DJ's to ask if they had seen it. As it wasnt there i showed them where the order numbers are, and looked up the reseller orders helpline phone number for them.

The sales rep spoke with Apple, who told him that my imac has just left customs, and is on its way to Apples warehouse in Sydney this aternoon. From there it will be shipped to Adelaide once its been despatched.

FFS. Im guessing i wont see this iMac before Xmas, and more than likely before New Years either. Unless they ship it tonight im pretty well screwed.

Im sick of Apples LIES. If its not leaving leaving sydney, then dont tell me that it is. If its not going to get here before Xmas than dont tell me that either.
I just wasted a day stressing over it for no reason.
 
It wont be delivered now until mid next week with all the holidays coming up. That will round it off about 62 days after i ordered it. Ironically ive had visitors drive from sydney and stay with me for a week and they will be back in sydney before the mac gets here...

Man thats a shame. Mine arrived 24th Dec - what a xmas present. Its all

working perfectly - no cracked screen, flickering or yellow tinge - couldn't be

happier.😀😀

One tip - get a 9 pin to 6 pin firewire cable to enable transfer of files etc.

Mine took only about 2½ hours as against about 16 hours doing it wirelessly

You only have these two choices in migration assistant (Firewire or Wirelessly

over a network)

Awesome, yep i was hoping that mine would get here in time for Xmas, but, yanno, im learning to not get my hopes up too high 🙁

This is my first Mac so i dont really have anything to migrate. Ive got all my crap backed up to an external harddrive so im guessing that will work ok.

Congrats on receiving yours, glad to hear it all works well 🙂

This is the point I was trying to make. The new imacs only have (one) firewire 800 MBs port and 4 USB ports.
I'm not sure if you can transfer your files (back) to a imac using only usb in the first instance. In my case I only had the two options in the Migration Assistant application.
Good luck with yours when it comes. I'm sure you'll enjoy it
 
i reakon ill wait until about midday for a fone call, then call them and ask them to ask the reseller line where my tracking is.. surely its not too far away now..
 
Its arrived!! About an hour ago it was delivered to DJ's!! Got sick o fwaiting so i called th ereseller line and they said it has been delivered in full..

Now to go down there and pick it up🙂 hope it works!!

Not sure it applies to your specific case, but this kind of thing is often the reseller's fault. The reseller is probably happy people blame Apple and not him. If one orders direct from Apple, it does not go to an Apple warehouse first, but rather direct to the customer. However, the reseller will let them congregate at the warehouse until his next scheduled delivery is due to be sent to him from the warehouse, or until there are enough of his orders sitting there to warrant a special pickup/delivery.

Picked mine up from DJ's Marion this afternoon. Took over an hour to find a park!
Its all setup and im typing on it now, its fast and quiet and very good looking.

Just doing the updates. Didnt get any discount or free stuff, but ill work on that later (whatever...)
 
Just purchased mine from Mac1 down at Burwood. FINALLY upgraded from my good old 12" Powerbook G4 from 2003.

27" iMac i5 + AppleCare and comes with Win7 FREE! Instead of the Office08 & Headphones. =D SWEET DEAL!!

Apparently there out of stock pretty much in every store- checked out Dicksmith Electronic aswell also out of stock, the next shipment of macs coming around mid-Jan to end-Jan according to Mac1.

They only had the 21.5" in stock.

I'm guessing Apple's restricted shipments to the 27" due to the graphic problems, hoping they'll fix it by then before they ship out my iMac!

Been running it all afternoon, its been like a dream. No problems with it at all, its fast, quiet and really crisp. watched a couple of movies on it and it had no dramas. Need to play around with some games tommorow to test out the graphics.

Hope the rest of you guys waiting for them get them soon, they really are quite impressive.
