Still hesitating on what to take :

1) 15 iGPU
2) 15 dGPU
3) 13 "upgraded"

Above order of most probable choice at this time, please help me take the decision !! :)

context :
- Not a gamer at all (except some chess and backgammon sometimes)
- some photo and video editing (planning on more)
- some 3D design tools (sketchup, rhino3d)
- some graphic stuff with mathematica
- tends to open tons of browser tabs ...

I think for you, you should pick either a 13'' with decent amount of ram (forget the i7 upgrade, it's still dual core so not worth the money), or you go for a 15 with iGPU.

Since you don't do much gaming I think portability will be more worth, so go for a 13''. I game and I run VM's, so I want the 15'' with dGPU.

My friend will be 30 minutes late so that gives me time to watch the "This was the best year for Apple ever", "We care about ecology a lot", "Campus 2" and "Jony designs a Xmas Tree" sections...

...

Guyyyys has the event started in your timezones yet? We're still waiting here...

Got a friend in Australia. The keynote has already happened there, new MacBooks shipping February

Will watch the keynote on Microsoft Edge in order to buy a Mac laptop, hahaha I feel so badass .
In other news, it's the first time I open/use Microsoft Edge (most probably the last time too) :D

Welp...I have to leave for class :( Worst possible timing, I swear.

This will probably be my last post in this thread--it's been one serious ride. I don't think I could've tolerated the wait nearly as well without this thread.

Happy New MBP everybody! See you on the other side ;)
See ya later home slice! You will be missed fellow comrade.

the guys in Oz are in a different timezone.... they just ordered 10kMBP CannonLakes :)

Tim Cook is going to let Serban introduce the new MBP on stage.

Imagine if he picks the wrong prototype and we end up with this..

Ladies and gents, mostly a lurker in this thread but it's been an enjoyable (and at times frustrating) ride. I shall miss both it and my 11" Air that shall soon be replaced with whatever is soon to come.

Not really sure what you mean ... That's the first time a TB3 connexion is available, which is what would be necessary for some kind of decent output (2160p, max settings and recent games). And I'm not aware of everything but the Razer Core is the first enclosure actually commercialised that I've heard about.
Yes Thunderbolt 3 makes it smoother because it has the necessary bandwidth, but it's been possible before. As I said, the Razer Core is only famous for it because of the media coverage and the fact it was being announced by such a large companies. There have been other commercialized enclosures in the past, some through a single TB2 and others through dual TB2.

Here's hoping for just a little surprise today. It feels like we know everything you can know about the new features, but Apple always gets something past the rumor sites.

Not that it changes anything...
