Why are they trying to do everything on this halve an inch touch bar? You have a screen and a pointer ffs. If you wanted touch, implement it in the screen or don't. Geez

Except the screen is mounted on a hinge. A lot of the features they've shown today require a stable platform under the Touch Bar (in this case, the computer itself). I don't want my screen wobbling around while I'm pressing on it, which is the main reason why touchscreen laptops just don't work.
