be interesting when the new air is out if the price is the same...if it is then I may be tempted to upgrade for Abit more power. The keyboard seems ok at the moment on my 2019 model.

I’d be in on a new 2020 model also but aren’t they usually at least a 2 year cycle?
As already mentioned in this thread, I have a very strong case that there would be a technical reason for the refresh. This is still no guarantee, but it makes sense.

A pretty reliable source says the new Air is coming in the second quarter of 2020 alongside a new version of the Pro. Not long to wait now!

Ties in with Intel's anticipated release of the 10th generation Y-series processors -
‘We expect mobile designs using Ice Lake-Y SKUs to start becoming available in the first half of 2020.’

I’m very interested to see what the new MBAs are about. While I don’t need strong performance, I’m hoping to see 4-core processors in there.

My only reservation with picking up a 2020 MBA is that there is supposed to be an updated 13”/14” MBP coming soon as well. The price and physical size differences between MBA and MBP currently is so small that I feel like I’d get better value from the MBP, even if I don’t need all the power. More so if it’s a 14” MBP with slimmer bezels. So I’m hoping to see price drops on all MBA SKUs.

blah blah blah. Millions of people own the 2019 Air and have had zero issues. Go out to Best Buy and Costco and Micro Center and Amazon and read the reviews if you doubt me. I personally own a 2018 Air and it's been a great little computer. Not the most powerful computer on the planet, but perfect for my needs. Use it for my writing business every single day. Love it!

that poster said he was on his 4th logic board for the MacBook Air.
hmmm. it certainly is an incredible story. what are the odds that that would happen. hmmm.
my experience is exactly the same as yrs however, and i have owned all MacBook Air models since they first came out.
not one issue. not even with keyboards.
an amazing machine that apple has very well crafted for a huge population.
my MacBook Air 2019 model is the best Air i have owned. :)

Not in any hurry to move from my last of the previous generation MacBook Air, acquired a couple of years ago (and incidentally, still on sale alongside the current generation in quite a few shops), but pleased to know that glitches in the current generation are being sorted. When the time does come for replacement, later rather than sooner, it will be done with no misgivings.

Very happy for all users that have zero issues with their Air 2019. It is a very intriguing lightweight model, and ideal for traveling. That's why I bought it.
Unless you had a look at the specific use case that caused that issue, I wonder why you should be affected then.
Did you try the out the reported scenario? Is it relevant to you? If both answers are no, why would you even bother?

I would also suggest you triangulate the fact that I got a full refund including apple care+, with the rumors on the very early refresh of that model.

Waiting for an upgraded Air or Pro 13" on my maxed out MacBook Pro 2012. Hope you guys are all safe.

Here we go, the 2020 is there!
It looks like still being a Y series CPU, but TB3 is now integrated, and not external, which may solve quite a few bottle neck issues.
It is hard to tell, as I have not found yet a direct match to the official Intel specs. Looks like an Apple specific SKU again.
Let's hope...

Im actually really pleased $999 for old keyboard, and 8/256 config!

This could be a viable 2016 nTB base model replacement if I run into issues down the road

Very good generational upgrade this time around.

If I didn't already have my 2015 MBP that's sufficient, I'd jump on this MBA.

This is my dream laptop!

Quad Core, Retina Display and (presumably) amazing battery life in a thin and light design. I will be upgrading. Question is just whether I should do it now or wait until Black Friday.

If you can wait for a sale, do it.

If you need it now buy it now

I have a 2017 nTB base model. I have to say this new $999 model is pretty enticing, especially I only use my MacBook for Discord, Youtube videos, and surfing Safari. Same reason why, as much as I want that new 16" I just can't justify upgrading a machine I barely use.

I can wait. But resale on my current one would also drop - so maybe it won't make much of a difference in the end.

Honestly, with these new models I wouldn't mind paying MSRP. I'm sure in a few weeks the third-party sellers will already have them $100 off.

I'm actually thinking of getting one of this Airs. I can leave the 16" at home in clamshell mode and taking the Air with me on the go once I go on trips and such.

Wow, got everything I wanted with this update. Cheaper. Quad core. More base storage. And ofc, a functional keyboard.

I’m guessing that they’re trying to differentiate the MBA and MBP lines more for whenever the new 13”/14” MBP comes out.

Will probably pick one of these up when it’s on refurb store later this year.

they are planning a 999 macbook air, with the way the prices fell from 1199 to 1099

999 macbook air with a magic keyboard should be released this year

Nice call! And we didn't even have to wait that long. To me the 2020 MBA is a very pleasant surprise.

Finally think I'm going to be upgrading my 2013 MacBook Pro 13.

You can upgrade the base machine to the quad-core processor for $100/£100 extra if you only need 256GB of storage.

Good to see another price reduction and the fact it now starts under $1,000/£1,000, which is where it needed to be. It should be even better when the retailers start discounting these.
