Do you have more unpacking pictures? Just reading Jobs Bio about how important he thought the package is, but with the iMac I cannot see that rule applied. It looks a bit tatty compared to other product boxes (especially the kiddy-suitcase-plastic-handle). And Apple still does not match some Japanese companies. If you buy a Nikon pro lens, Nikon makes you feel really special with the box alone.

Off topic of course, but speaking of amazing packaging, I'm hopefully getting a Razer Mamba for xmas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENv6BzuVNHo

FedEx just came a day early! Busy day today but will try to report back once I open and setup!

Good luck to others getting them today!

Awesome. Once you have everything setup and had time to play, many of us would love to see you benchmark it.

because you want to see exactly how the products are shipped, what the contents of the box and what are the impressions on the device. Remember that most of the times people buy products that only see in photos on the internet so having a video showing exactly how the product looks is very good.

Why do people need to see how the products are shipped? What possible life changing experience can one have from watching an unboxing video?

The contents of the box are clearly stated on the product's information pages.

Videos of how the product looks and works once it's setup are perfectly understandable and useful. But videos of taking the product out of the box? I am still trying to understand the usefulness.

The previous iMac box had the same handle. What exactly is it you're seeing that is tatty? I must applaud you though - you've managed to stop yourself from blaming Tim Cook or saying "Steve wouldn't have allowed this" directly.

It's always hilarious to watch unboxings on YouTube of the chubby fat kid who's parents got him the latest gadgets.

"Here we have the new *gasp for breath* Macbook..."

Mine must be lost. I have the same departure from Anchorage, Alaska at 9:10pm on the 11th. It is now the 12th and I have no more info. I'm on the west coast, so it would be silly for it to go all the way to Kentucky. Washington is the closest state to Alaska. I wonder if my plane crashed?

You know, I often have had UPS tracking failures. Ground items will sit and not update for a day or two, then either right before or right after delivery, all the info updates. I think it's a flaw in their consumer tracking interface, because obviously the item in transit makes progress. Then again, maybe if fell off the pallet, and maybe some Eskimo now has an iMac. Who knows!

Nothing special about Nikon's lens packaging, just a gold cardboard box and crappy plastic packaging inside for the pro lenses I've bought. My Fuji X100 on the other hand had exceptional packaging.

I think Apples packaging is much slicker..

How so, I recently switched to Nikon and opening my lens boxes didn't make me feel that special? Just the usual polystyrene, lens case and manual you get with any manufacturer.

What can I say? Congrats, you just flushed something like 800$ into the toilet because of not buying two 32gb RAM kits for those macs from 3rd party brands and installing it yourself in 3 minutes.

With the excitement of the new 27s being out I just wanted to share order time and delivery data in reference to selected equipment.

I purchased the computer I wanted and it will be that way out of the box along with the three year warranty. :) In 17 years I've never purchased a computer for my work but otherwise have always fixed up free hand me down PCs. I thought about the factory installed upgrades pretty hard. In the end, even though more expensive, I really like the idea of everything being right on the original build sheet. It will be an asset for resale years on down the road and the entire expense is tax deductible. I think I can sleep at night knowing I paid a few hundred extra. I purchased one iMac for my office and another for my employer's office. We're switching from PCs.

We chose to feed Apple rather than a 3rd party.

I'm skeptical.
If I understand you correctly you consider it a real possibility that folks who received their iMacs and posted it here are not telling the truth?

Do I hear "conspiracy theory"? Please, save your skepticism for after 21 December 2012... you dó believe that, right?

Sure, I can believe what I want, just the same as you believe it's OK to put quotation marks around anything you want. http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com As far as December 21st, it's a Mayan thing...I can't say that I am Mayan.

Well, no conspiracy here. I'm migrating my stuff (except for apps) from my old iMac with Migration Assistant. More than two hours to go, then I'll have to install apps and do some other housekeeping.

Comments so far (3TB Fusion, 680MX, 24GB memory):

1. It's BIG, and my desk is fairly large. I can't imagine what a 30" monitor would be like.

2. Installing memory was a bit of a pain. You have to reach behind the stand, and it's hard to see what you're doing. Once it's done, it's done, though.

3. Very few reflections on the screen - it's closer to a matte display than I expected. (Reflections weren't a problem for me before, however.)

4. I got the wired keyboard because I wanted the numeric keypad. I still hate the keys, though, so I may end up getting a third-party keyboard after all.

5. The bulge in the back doesn't bother me at all.

6. Very cool (temperature-wise) so far.

hey, what's the height of that thing (stand +screen)? I am trying to see if it will fit a certain spot on my desk with limited clearance..

I get 20 and 3/4 inches from desk surface to the top of the computer. One factor you may need to take into account is distance from the screen. At this size, I have it farther back than I had my 24" iMac.
