Target no longer has 10% off days. They have a flat 5%, unless you get prescriptions from the pharmacy, then after a certain # you get an additional 5% for a day.

Target will definitely have them. Just spoke with electronics dept. manager at my local store. She said they received an e-mail explaining that they would have "limited quant.," but that all models would be in stock for launch.

Looks like target will have them. Question is can you sign up for their credit card and get 10% off?
I've never known Target to be selective about what you can buy in their stores with discounts. Keep in mind even if you already have a Target Visa you can still get 5% off if you charge it with that Target Visa card.

I'm armed with my Target Visa card, my 10% Target employee (retired) discount card and a 5% one day shopping rewards discount card good until 5-1-11. They take discounts off successively so the effective discount would be about 18%. If Target has the iPad2 anytime in March or April I'm probably ripe to buy.

I've called both Walmart and Target and both of them seem to know nothing about when they're going to have them.

Best Buy, however, said they will definitely have them for sale on Friday @ 5PM.

Do lines mean they are going to sell out entirely or just that Id have to wait forever on friday to get one?

Don't they have to receive the iPads, stock them etc. Could be after 5pm if that happens.

Doubt that will happen. Deliveries for a P.O.B usually occurs either in the morning or the early afternoon. Yet to see a late delivery, but stranger things have happened.

I've called two walmarts and two targets. First Walmart told me that they don't even have the first generation Ipads and won't be getting the second. Second Walmart put me on hold and never picked back up. The first target said they probably won't get them until April. The last guy at Target I talked had never heard of an Ipad. Oh the joys of living in Kansas.

For those who keep asking about if Best Buy might sell them earlier than 5pm on Friday - I'll remind you what they did during the original iPad 3G launch. You may remember it too had the 5pm launch time.
What the Best Buy's did was had out vouchers in the morning for the number of iPad's they had in stock. If you had a voucher, you returned at 5pm and bought your iPad.
This angered a lot of people as the days prior to launch Best Buy had said they weren't going to do that.
So it'll likely be the same this Friday.

I've seen wal-mart sell a few things a day (or more) before the item was supposed to be on public release. Nothing on the scale of the iPad2 but "Items" none the less. Heck, I think I bought John Mayer's "Where The Light Is" a week before the release date. Came back a few days later to grab a copy for my brother and it was missing.

Not apples to apples *pun intended? The point however, remains the same. If your local wal-mart has the potential to push the product I'd almost bet there is a person not paid enough to care about release dates/times putting it out. I'd also bet Wal-Mart wouldn't be the least bit threatened by Apple.

Best Buy Won't Have Them; Target Clueless

I called my local Best Buy here in the Mountain View area. He said they won't be getting them until the end of March but some larger Best Buys may be getting them.
The first person I talked to at Target didn't know what the iPad was (and she works in the electronics dept.); I overheard her asking someone else who just said "I hope so..."
