Once again, if "Steve wanted Apple to be a luxury brand, a brand that you don't see at large retail store like Walmart" (what you had posted earlier) then Apple brand devices including Macintosh computers, iPhones, iPads, iPods, Apple Watches, etc. would/should not have been sold at Walmart stores but they have been for many years both during and after the Jobs era.

And going back to the original part of this discussion, Apple products have been regularly discounted by third party retailers going back decades, also during and after the Jobs era.

You really just don't get it, that is ok.

What exactly don't I get? I've quoted and responded to specific things you’ve stated and a quote you attributed to Steve Jobs. The reality is that Apple products (from lower end to upper end) have been discounted going back decades. Apple products have been available at Walmart for decades. Just because some stores, like Walmart, may primarily offer lower end versions doesn't mean they still aren't Apple brand products. Again, what is it you were trying to get across by your comments and Jobs' quote? Jobs was wrong or just blowing smoke? You misquoted what he said? Jobs didn't consider lower end Apple products "true" Apple (branded) products?

I've been following Walmart's sales numbers and it looks like demand is falling off. The Space Grey ones are OOS, Silver sold around 100 units online in a day, no numbers for Gold. No stores near me ever had them in stock. It will be interesting to see if Walmart gets more SG ones, as those had the highest demand, over a 1000+/day and last check was at 500+/day.

I've been following the listings on Walmart.com like you. As of this morning, Rose is at 500+, Silver is 100+, and Space Grey is at 1000+ bought since yesterday. Those are incredible numbers to me. I didn't think even very popular computers sold at these kinds of numbers. I'm surprised the stock is keeping up (all show available to ship to me tomorrow), but no local store in my large metro area has any in stock for pickup. Does this mean Apple is currently manufacturing these models? I thought for sure these were just excess inventories being sold off, but I've read (Reddit) speculation that Apple is still actively manufacturing the M1 MBA for Walmart.

It's such a tempting purchase for me, but I haven't pulled the trigger (yet).
