Walmart is having a refurbished iPhone 6/6+ sale on their website. Prices are $498/$598 plus tax for 16GB version for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon versions. These phones are locked to their carriers, but prices are $151 off new full retail price, which is a 23% savings. This deal would be good for a replacement device if lost or stolen.

The Verizon iP6 is not locked to Verizon. It can be used on Verizon, AT&T or TMobile.

As for the AT&T model, as long as your line is not under contract (and many times even if it is), you are able to submit an unlock request and it will be approved:

thanks for clearing that up, wasnt aware vzw phones come unlocked , thought that was a one time thing they did with the 5
All of the newer Verizon 4G LTE phones including the Androids are carrier unlocked out of the box.

And with AT&T, it shouldn't be a problem to get the Walmart iP6 refurbs unlocked if you are off contract and even if you are still on contract some of us are having success. I just unlocked an iP5s that was still under contract. I posted a link to the thread on the AT&T unlocking above.

I'm not sure, you might be able to find the answer here

thanks from the wiki:

For you and those wondering, you can submit the Walmart receipt to apple and they'll give you the full year of warranty. All of these iPhones should come with warranty regardless since it has been less than a year since release date (assuming the iPhone you get isn't water damaged or is cracked).

Steps
1. Enter serial number here https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do on apple warranty check website.
2. Click the "submit your proof of purchase online" link.
3. Upload a pdf or some document of your Walmart receipt.

seems like a steal!

i heard 6+ 64 go for $698. That's a solid $152 savings over full retail (and tax difference)

But these are 16GB devices. A new 16GB iP6+ would be $750 + sales tax, about $795 for me where I live.

These would be about $635 after sales tax where I live so a savings of $160.

When does the warranty start to run on these - from the date of purchase from Walmart? Is it a full year warranty through Apple?

When I got a refurb 6+ through AT&T, the warranty was from when the phone was originally purchased. You would have to enter an IMEI onto the apple support site to see.

can i use the verizon phones on a gsm line in canada or australia?

didnt apple say that iphones are now 'world phones'? pretty sure that was a marketing line at the iPhone 4s introduction?
