Surprise
I just saw that Walmart is selling the MacBook Air M1 for $699 online. All colors available.
It was actually advertised to me on the main page.

I've been saying for a while that I think Apple might reuse that design and come out with a MacBook SE that they would occasionally update it with newer integrals. I wonder if this is sort of a test for that. Apple loves to reuse older designs for the SE (iPhone, Watch, even the base iPad was a reused iPad Air design although never marketed as the iPad SE).

Personally, I very much doubt that Apple are using Walmart to trial a product. That they could use the original Air form factor for a future entry-level laptop is quite possible, but I think they'd do this on the back of their own product development and marketing.

This is going to be Walmart or their reseller(s) clearing their product channel(s) of old stock.
