Walmart to Begin Accepting Apple Pay in U.S. Stores

This seems to be more a "Walmart Enables Tap-to-Pay" story than anything specifically related to ApplePay. Even customers who still use physical cards have become accustomed to tapping for payment these days and probably find it annoying to have to insert a card and wait for approval at Walmart. I would guess Walmart finally enabled NFC to be able to make transactions smoother overall and since there's no way to do that without allowing ApplePay and GooglePay as well they also get enabled. Will be interesting to see if Walmart enables in-app ApplePay....my guess is no.

Nevertheless, I'm glad it's finally happening.

What do you care if people use their phone to pay?

I dont care about strangers, but people I know act like you are the alien for using cash or your physical credit card.

I still find it weird when someone reaches their wrist to pay with their smartwatch, that still looks unnatural to me. I have used Apple Pay before in certain places, like when paying for parking or tickets, or if my cards are acting up on a given POS.

Maybe its just me, I can see it being good as an option for certain cases, but making it the only one is creating a unique point of failure. Phone dies, screen breaks, and you are sold.

After this, very few large merchants. Some small local shops and rather a lot of gas/petrol stations.
