B. mac mini now and a used 12" powerbook.

C. Low end Macbook pro now.

Hi,

Just my 2 cents: Over the summer, I was able to find a MBP 2.2 Santa Rosa matte for $1500 in perfect condition (and extras thrown in!). The added screen real estate is totally worth the $$ and the matte screen with LED backlit screen meets my needs completely. So, I imagine that if the "mini" MBP, or whatever they are going to call it, comes out next week, you just might find a MBP for a great price. To be fair, it takes some work and persistence to find the right MBP from the right person. You should also verify that it is not stolen, etc. by checking the serial number and, perhaps, a receipt. I truly believe that you'll be pleased with owning one of these and that it will most likely meet your needs for years. As for cleaning, I use a soft, damp cotton cloth to wipe the screen and body and a micro fiber cloth to polish. (sorry, I think I've given you at least 4 cents;) )

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am leaning towards the MBP but I'm going to hold off until after Macworld. If this new subnotebook hits the sweet spot price and feature wise, it may just be a good option too.

Well if I don't sell the monitor I couldn't afford the MBP. I had to have it replaced recently on account of a manufacturing defect and Dells customer service was a nightmare. I'd kind of like to unload this monitor and maybe get a 23" ACD sometime in the future. Possibly even a 30"

Keep your Dell display, sell your white box and pick up a previous gen mini. You'll likely come out even if not ahead in that transaction. A previous gen mini will suit your stated current needs fine, and you can stick the rest in the bank to buy a top end Mac when you need it.
