The wheels on these do look lovely, a very high quality finish. I think the price is actually reasonable and acceptable for prosumers who want ultimate Mac Pro portability.
When they’re close to the price of car tyres, something is very wrong

A fool and their money shall soon depart.

$400 wheels
$1000 monitor stand

Hard to believe. This is n the Ferrari options realm for $1000 carbon fiber tire stem caps.

Reasonable it's definitely not. Acceptable sure, since if you want a high end Mac you have no other choice.

As for the wheels, no finish can justify this price. Unless they are made of diamond.

Nice, from one extreme to the other... Diamond wheels would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Four tires for my car is $1200. Wouldn't call that close...and that's just the rubber on the outside. Four complete wheels for my car is in the $20k range.

People who are never going to buy something, complaining about prices they can't afford. That's internet for you ;)

And no, I can't afford this either. But I'm not going to complain about it.
People who are never going to buy something, complaining about people complaining is the actual internet. 😉

Apple has been teetering over the edge of ridiculousness and now they’ve fully plunged into the abyss. $400 wheels for a desktop. LoL. Love the people trying to justify this.

So that's what they did with the old Mac Pros

I just found a set of castors for $21.98 at Home Depo. That will save me
$378.02, bringing the overall cost of my setup down to $51,621.98. Much better deal, as $52K is just too dam high.
y, lets buy a 50k workstation and then put on some 20-buck wheels from homedepot....

At this point, Apple just has to be trolling.
You misspelled "rolling".

These will sell to high-end studios who won't blink at the price (if they aren't just going rackmount in their edit bays). For others, there'll probably be a 3rd party version along soon, for half the price or less.

Can i use the maxed out version to check email?
I don't know, but I expect that Safari will be snappier.

Ask for one wheel, like Chris Rock in 'I'm Gonna Git You Sucka'.
Nah, the fun part is getting a set of 4 without the Mac Pro.

Just to hang on the Christmas tree, or something.
Put 'em in the kids stockings.

$400 to make it a little easier to move it a few inches this way, or that way. Wow!
If that were your only use for them, it'd be a stupid purchase - you could just manhandle the machine into place. I mean, it's got sturdy feet and handles.

These are for the company that has a business need to roll it/them around a lot, moving equipment to different studios, say.

Your fixation on the price rather than the functionality proves this site exists mostly to stir discontent and angst, not edification of readers.

Pathetic.
I think everyone knows what wheels do.

Maybe so...but, I can't see anyone rolling a computer THAT far.

Y’all love firing up the price is too high base, don’t you?

Because the metal stand for $999 and a set of 4 tiny wheels for $399 are frankly a cash grab and people should rightly call that behaviour out before it spreads to other areas of the product line.

The rest of the pricing for the Mac Pro and the Display can be justified for professionals.

Apple is a fantastically successful company that will continue to make boat loads of cash. It doesn’t need your help defending the comedic pricing on the stand and wheels

That sound uncannily like a comedy Sketch from the BBC in 1980 (just substitute "Apple" for "BBC" whenever it comes up)...
