Will AT&T plans still include this service?

Nevermind.

Those who subscribe through a TV, mobile, or wireless provider will be informed of any price or plan changes.
I'm sure those of us that were force-fed HBO Max by AT&T will wind up either dropping Max altogether or getting the ad-lite version or some crap. I can't imagine AT&T being nice enough to just give us the 2-stream ad-free and call it a day.

Retiring a 50-year old brand (HBO) with the cache that it has and replacing it with a shortened name based on your 42-year old brand that never had the same cache is simply the height of stupidity on a marketing level…however, it is completely par for the course by WB Discovery’s current management.

Frankly, they aren’t the only ones making novel knee-jerk idiotic decisions in the media streaming world.

It’s a bummer that HBO is going the way of Netflix. Adding a bunch of crap HBO subscribers didn’t want.

Probably working out for them in the money department but it doesn’t give me warm fuzzies.
Works the other way, also for Discovery+ subscribers that aren't interested in the most of the junk on HBO Max.

This is .... wow .... one of the worst "branding" shifts I can think of since, well, probably the Pepsci disaster. And even that pales in comparison to how bad this decision is.

This must go down as one of the dumbest business decisions ever. Sure, Why keep your established brand in the name, right?

Also this logo is UGLY. 90s internet vibes.

I wish them nothing but the worst. I hope this leads to a big churn rate and low new subscription numbers

I agree that "Max" is a generic name... kinda like calling your app store "The App Store"
Kinda an apples and oranges situation. It's just called "The App Store" because it's the exclusive way to get apps on the iPhone, and only iPhones use it so there's no reason to call it the "iPhone App Store". They're not trying to advertise the store to any other smartphone user

Prime video is such a UX disaster that I'd never pay for it on it's own (I get prime for 2 day shipping)...they really need to stop mixing included/free and paid/subscription content in the same lists.
You can just tick the switch to "Free to Me" and it hides all the paid for content. What I wish they'd do is add a filter for "All content / Add-Free content only". I cannot stand what something starts up in FreeVee and a 30 minute video has 10 non-skippable add blocks - usually breaking in the middle of dialog.

On topic for this thread - HBO and Discovery+ have separate audiences. Combining leading original programming and a catalog back to the 80's with Discovery's crapload of reality TV is awful. Hopefully they will restore the complete HBO back catalog and put in a filter for HBO / Discovery / All Content.
