Warner Bros keeps ****ing themselves with bad decisions and investments.
This is what I've been trying to figure out too... if I want *both* which I have now... I have to pay for both still? Or I keep paying for HBO Max (oops MAX lol) and now I can cancel my Discovery+ because all its content is on MAX?Discovery+ will still be offered standalone though so that segment of people is unaffected.
That ended years ago when AT&T bought it. Luckily Apple TV+ now fills that void for high quality content.
AT&T let all go all of the creatives that made HBO great and turned it into just another streaming service. Media articles detailed how the executives had no idea what they were doing but thought they could do better. That transition is now complete. Sad that all they cared about was making more money. No appreciation of creativily or quality programming.
Disney+
Why? Streaming video isn't cheap. So the lower quality video you watch the less it costs the provider.I'm not a big fan of subscription services. I hate paying for that. The fact they are charging you extra for 4K (Higher Display) quality is just dumb.
That brings back memories of when the iPad was first released.Maybe it'll come preloaded on a tablet and they'll call it MAXiPad
US onlyWhat happens in Canada where HBO is tied to Crave, but Discovery is independent?
Read the article! Discovery remains,..and same price.I pay $6.99+tax for Discovery Plus with no ads, now I have to pay $15.99? What a rip off. I already get HBOMax free with my AT&T service.
Its not confusing at all. HBO becomes Max and includes D+ Content. D+ remains as is with no changes. How is that so complicated? Its confusing because it starts off saying they are consolidating then saying that Discovery+ users will remain as-is.
Only because there is no reason to Change HBO Max at all. I imagine the crossover of people with both HBO Max and Discovery+ is relatively low. For those people, they already subscribe to both services. And pay a couple of bucks more. Forcing D+ content into Max and charging more will piss off more current HBO Max subscribers than current HBO Max plus D+ subscribers. Its not confusing at all. HBO becomes Max and includes D+ Content. D+ remains as is with no changes. How is that so complicated?
MaxMax!Warner owns Cinemax too
Okay, well that's not your decision to make. I get that you don't like change, but it is what it is. If your not happy, don't subscribe and show them your unhappy.Only because there is no reason to Change HBO Max at all.
If you want both, then you will be simply updated to the Max app and after a grace period will pay the new rate. The new rate will INCLUDE both HBO and D+ Content. Yes you can cancel your seperate D+sub, as all the content will be in Max. Think of it like Disney+, where it is all in one app. This is what I've been trying to figure out too... if I want *both* which I have now... I have to pay for both still? Or I keep paying for HBO Max (oops MAX lol) and now I can cancel my Discovery+ because all its content is on MAX?
Nothing has changed except the name of the app, Lol. All the content is still HBO. Your literally getting upset over an app name change? It’s going to feel strange not having the HBO brand anymore. Many of us grew up with the brand, even when our parents didn’t subscribe to it.
So dramatic! The HBO channel STILL exists on cable/ Sat. It's just an app upgrade to include d+ Content and app name change. It’s definitely the end of an era.
Looks like they are both owned by the same company, HBO which is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. DiscoveryHow is Cinemax (if still around) not going to sue?
Because, those names are awful close IMO.
Actually Home Box Office (HBO), which is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery.Warner owns Cinemax too
Agree - what a huge mistake to get rid a brand like HBO and Discovery. Who is the bright exec that thought of that? And now have to pay more to watch 4k? I already have a year subscription for add free HBO that includes 4k.I wish it would just be called HBO
