Just setup the new iPhone X, put it in a case, and put it in my pocket. After a couple hours I noticed scratches on the screen. The AirPods case was the only other thing in my pocket with the iPhone X.

I took the Airpods case and rubbed it against the screen with no pressure and it left marks that would not rub off and confirmed that they caused the scratches seen in the picture below. This never happened with the iPhone 7.

I tried it on another iPhone X in the Apple Store the other day to confirm it was not just my iPhone X, and the side of the AirPod case with the metal hinge left scratches that could not be wiped or cleaned off. I can't believe this has not been mentioned anywhere before.

I plan to get a screen protector and keep the iPhone in a pocket with nothing else in the future.

You went to an Apple store and scratch the screen of one of the display models? Did one of the employees let you do that or did you just do it without anyone knowing?

Obviously no Apple Employee is going to let him do that. He has to do it without lettiny anyone know.

So it surprises you that scratching metal parts on a screen scratches the screen? You might be shocked to know that a key will damage your screen too then. Not sure why you’d put anything in the same pocket as a cell phone with a screen. This has to be one of the silliest threads ever.

Let’s start a thread not to jam a 3.5mm headphone plug into the lightning jack too.

Is that not criminal damage?

Why on earth would you put anything in the same pocket as your phone with no screen protector.

Just seems like madness to me.

Maybe you should contact the press and they can break the news.

Apple iPhone X in “metal scratches screen shock”

This forum gets worse every day. If it’s not Android trolls everywhere, it’s people posting utterly pointless stuff.

I know this is an old thread but just ressurecting it - wanted to say i had my airpods in same pocket as my iPhone X today and my phone now has scratches on it too, from the case. Never had any of this before Just using the pocket normally

Tip for anyone carrying airpods - put them in another pocket or it will scratch your phone screen!

Mine isn't as bad as OP's but it's noticeable when the phone screen is off
