Is anyone else having this problem

I get a message .. i see the pop up .. and i hit 'close'
and the phone goes into a 'Respring'... then I have to press 'Restart' and then it comes on OK

If i 'Reply' or 'Open' .. then its ok.. otherwise it goes into a 'Respring'

How do i avoid that ?

I have a similar problem. Sometimes the QR won't pop up on the lock screen, but then it pops up when I actually go into the BiteSMS app. If that happens 90% of the time, it Resprings in Safe Mode. If I try using QR to reply to a message in my Notification Center, it has that same problem. Sometimes it just freezes and Resprings into Safe Mode when I receive a message.

Might even want to try and see if it's fixed in the beta. If it isn't you can report the issue and likely get a faster fix out for the issue.
