WARNING - Bricking of 6G Electra SSD Drive from OWC

You seem like a nice reasonable person. Exactly the type some AH will try will take advantage of.

Listen to the people here. A lot a pretty smart people, who will tell you that they are feeding you Bull pucky.

Fact: Unless a piece of software is a virus, or will write to the firmware/hardware (the only things that will do this are firmware updates or viruses), or totally broken software (but that would still only be temporary), they are either:

1) worst tech support on planet

2) liars (highly likely).

And this isn't the first time for these Chicago folks.

New OWC 6G firmware is available - (download here)

Will give a go tonight, will update if I find anything of interest.

(The date says Feb 18 2011, but this must be a typo as it used to say Oct 22 2011)

I'm really pissed off at OWC for 2 things: they don't even list any details about the update on their website, i.e. if it's crucial to update your SSD, what does the update bring. What furthermore angers me is the we Data Doubler users would have to take out the Data Doubler and insert the Superdrive back into the MBP in order to be able to install this update.

This is some utter BS. I don't have the time nor the patience to do all this work once again just for a crappy update.

Is there another way to update it?!

Some release notes would be appreciated. Hoping they release some info in the next day or two.

Anyway, I've just flashed and everything's still working - booted first time. I guess it's now a test of time.
