I don't use Facebook much these days, I turned off personalized advertising in Facebook a few months ago and now the app often pauses for a 4 second ad break that pauses the scrolling.

I've learned to use that as a sign to close the app and go do something else. Log that user behavior, Meta.
Ever since landing on Substack, I've been on Facebook less, though every now and then I feel the urge to check my feed. Facebook just isn't the same anymore. Many of the groups I'm a part of on there aren't as active as they used to be, and the same goes for some of the pages I follow. A lot of them seem to have become nothing more than a broken record, recycling far more old posts than adding much new.

same. Facebook used to be the place to go to see what your friends are posting and doing, and now it is just an endless stream of noise and promotion that has nothing to do with the original intention, which defeats the point of going there in the first place.

I'm not sure why people think any of their activity in the Meta infrastructure is not up for grabs in the first place. The whole point of their ecosystem is that your data is up for grabs.
