On the contrary, the team at Apple are clearly very proud of Vision Pro. And proud they should be, too.

We're just getting started with these incredibly immersive spatial computing experiences. Vision Pro clearly has a very bright future as one of the flagship products in this amazing Apple ecosystem.

If the Vision Pro were made by any other company and all else was the same no one would be vigorously defending it like this. Apple is almost like a cult for some people and the enlightened one can do no wrong.

This really is sad. Still no Logic for Vision Pro either. Absolute embarrassment and yeah at this point the product has hopeful bean counter written all over.

Well how do you like them beans Timmy???

Wow, the ranking is removed from the main 2D Window. The spatial computing aera has truly begun.

Meanwhile, an €500 Meta headset runs circles around the AvP software-wise, although it has inferior hardware. I'm getting strong VHS-Betamax vibes here.

If the Vision Pro were made by any other company and all else was the same no one would be vigorously attacking it like this. Apple is almost like a nexus of evil for some people and the evil one can do no right.

Otoh, if the Vision pro were made by any other company, it would either be a professional product for a higher price tag or an already forgotten flop from a now bankrupt company.

I foresee an impending moral dilemma. If some iGoggle clown Mario Karts his rump out of his seat and onto the floor of the bus I'm going to have to decide wether to help them up or steal their seat. Could conflicting real and virtual accelerations cause brain damage?

Apple doesn’t seem sure what this product is for, for business, consumers? Maybe they will get it right with version 2

  • A 3D game
    • projected on a 2D plane
      • in a 3D virtual environment
        • projected on 2D screens
          • in a real 3D environment
            • projected on your 2D eyes
              • interpreted by your brains to suggest a 3D reality
If Only Apple could take away one layer and present an actual spatial game for their spatial device. How they are positioning their gaming on their device is ridiculous.

Since I wanted Porntube, I may as well ask for Leisure Suite Larry - lounge Lizard.

This is the thing I don't get about the AVP.

It seems you can pretty much have any content "coming to AVP" through a 2D display.

I don't think it should count as AVP native unless it's actually immersive.

I'm looking at a 2D display in 3D space right now! No accessories required!

When I bought my first iPad many of the apps I looked forward to using were just iPhone apps running on iPad. iPad just made them bigger with no value add. Eventually, those apps received a version native to the iPad as we all expected.

I think as time goes on the same will happen with Vision Pro.

Even today the vast majority of iPad apps are iPhone apps with more whitespace. Very few applications are truly iPad native.

Same thing is happening with Vision Pro.

I won’t disagree with you. I’m looking for a(the) killer app for me. I found it for the iPad and the killer app was the pencil and any given note app say Notability or Goodnotes. for the Apple Watch, it was a combination of having a Calendar app on my wrist, the cell phone and live updating weather conditions.

Medically retired and on dialysis; I’m looking for a or the killer app for the AVP for myself. Basically I’m looking for a reason to justify purchase for myself and haven’t found one yet.

IF the Vision Pro were made by any other company, most of you here who are critical wouldn't even care about it.

Still don’t see the point in putting this heavy thing on my face to play content on a flat 2D floating window with a digital „reflection“ of my room when I can do the same without strapping something to my face by just playing it from my iPad on my lap or on a big screen TV

And yes, I have a AVP (free from Apple as developer via work) but when it comes to games, I prefer the full on immersive experience of a 500$ Meta Quest. My fav VR experience so far has been „The Climb 2“. My BF literally had to stop playing because he got scared of the „height“ and falling 😅

The AVP is obviously much better at playing movies though but in that use case a „flat screen“ also makes sense.
Gaming is not the primary use case Apple optimized for just like their high-end products outside of maybe the iPhone.

The specs of their displays they use is extremely antagonistic for such a purpose: Until literally days ago there wasn’t single DSLR with the resolution/pixel-density to film AVP, FFS:

As a fellow developer you should be already aware it would take a VERY powerful GPU to run current-gen and even past-gen quality XR games at the ideal refresh rates to optimially reduce motion sickness and other issues with less than ideal refresh rates (90hz+).

The Vision Pro laptop-class APU and its GPU cores is not equipped for that use case.

It doesn’t even have ray-tracing being incompatible with current-gen of gaming.

Every time someone mentions the 2 hour battery life, it's clear they've never used and don't understand the product.
So, 4 hours b/c I don’t understand the number 2. How many hours is the battery life? Can it be used while plugged in? If not, then why am I mistakenly fixating on the number 2?

Dialysis takes 3.5 hours, so for me, 2 hours is *****.

It runs as long as you like as long as it’s plugged in, 3.5 hours is easy and I use it longer all the time… 😉
