Wow. I am worried with all this talk about MBP's and black MacBooks being on their last legs. I have a 5 year old PowerBook that is still running strong. I need to upgrade because of the limitations of the machine but I am confident it would run several more years with little problem.

It makes me hesitant sometimes to even think about upgrading and wondering when it will crap out on me. Not good. Not good at all.

They might offer it but it has already been proven that the glossy screen shows colors more vividly with a better "popping" factor. Still, we can never have too many options :D.

This has never been scientifically proven.

You guys are nuts. The current line of Pros are great machines. I love mine.

And just think; if you buy and they update within two weeks you can always return it and pay the difference for the newer one (plus restocking, of course).
I don't know if they'll update within the next two weeks. In a way I was holding out but then I had something else to occupy me; a netbook. Not super duper awesome but certainly useable for my couch surfing purposes.

What is wrong with what there is now? Nothing except I want matte.

This has never been scientifically proven.
You're worried about science? Interesting concept considering you firmly believe your 15" MBP is future-proofed for various unscientific and outlandish reasons. ;)

Notwithstanding your delusions, I believe you are correct that scientific proof may be lacking regarding the color vibrance between a matte and glossy screen. In your attempt to defend your purchase once more you must realize that scientific or not a glossy screen has and will most likely always show color more vividly as whatever is used to make a screen matte will mute colors ever so slightly ... regardless.

I was, but I dont NEED a computer right now, so I'll just be patient and wait.

This.

Maybe he would not save money, but it is very likely many people would save by waiting, including myself. The reason being I would like to have 4GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive on my 13" MBP. So if I purchase now, I have to spend an extra $135 to upgrade to those features for the lower end MBP (cheaper than getting the higher end MBP). However, there is certainly a chance that when the upgrade occurs, the lower end might have both, so I would not have to spend an extra $135 to get the memory and HD space I want.

Exactly. Or there may be an option for a truly faster machine that would last me 9-18 months longer for the same I'd be paying today -- and that saves money in the long term. My current machine is less than optimal (and I'm more than ready to move off PPC) but it still does everything I need it to and most of what I want it to.

Plus I'm probably going to wait until CS5 is out anyway, since I'll have to buy a new license: might as well just buy 5 instead of 4 plus an upgrade price. But knowing what the MBP lineup will be in April/May would be helpful as far as planning the purchase.

Apple didn't want to steal the limelight from the iPad... totally a marketing decision.

I would expect it in the next month or two.... I'm holding out myself as I'm not going to by a Core2Duo based laptop

Yeah I'm gonna just wait till the new MBP's come out. Hopefully it won't be much of a huge price increase. But I'm willing to pay around £1500 for a really good machine. Plus I'm in good shape already in terms of saving - something that I needed to have been doing for years now lol.

are you NUTS?!!! Lol...

who in their right thinking frame of mind would pay apple's disgusting and comically ridiculous prices for a cd2 macbook pro computer when equivalent i5's and i7s are not only available but CHEAPER?!!

you'd be insane to buy a macbook right know unless you *really* needed it....and respect to folks who refuse to pay stupid prices for a cd2 processor at a price thats 2 years out of date and willing to wait for the refresh. macbooks are gorgeous machines but paying those prices for ancient tech just don't make sense.

My macbook screen is dying and so I'm going to have to upgrade at some point. Still though, it does make sense to wait and get the better system when we're (probably) this close. I need a large hard drive and that factor alone makes me want to hold out so I won't have to shell out extra money to get it...

+3
I REALLY WANT one though!!:mad::mad:
Also waiting to upgrade. I have a 2004-era Inspiron 8600 (1.6 GHz Pentium M, 2GB, 120GB, 15" 1920x1200 though). It still works but is showing its age.

As much as I don't want to pay the :apple:tax, I want even less to deal with Hackintosh headaches. Since I had to wait until 2010 for a new laptop anyway, I'm gonna wait another x weeks for i5 (i7?). :D
