Just gonna drop my two cents...

1. It's usually wise to post this sort of thread BEFORE you purchase.
2. Don't think of a smaller screen is a bad thing, it is meant to be a plus. If it's not for you that is fine, but it wasn't meant to be the poor mans option or anything.

I already bought this laptop, and since I can't return it (or have to pay a restocking fee), I'm going to make an attempt to suppress this nagging pain of making a bad choice. In an attempt to alleviate this pain, I'm gonna twist reality, and inject some false pride in my decision, in order to fool myself into believing I've made the right decision all along. Then I'm gonna call everyone fanboys, and SJ lemmings because my frustration has completely boiled over. In one years time, all of you with the latest macbook air, will be carrying around an old generation macbook air, jelous of the 2011 macbook air owners, just like me jelous of the 2010 macbook air owners.

Yes, spot on.

Yea way to go dude, funny how I already drew attention to the fact that my ego was bruised in another post and made light of it. Try reading, wasn't trying to hide it or anything.. So you're kinda late on that one;p

But points to you for being the snarky "that guy" that the internet just wouldn't be the same without, you're so clever and you can see through me so well. Take up a career in psychology (I bet you're gonna say that you are in one, or some other high profile high paying job, cuz "that guy" always is!) ;)

UPDATE: So after the experience of this thread, I leave you all with this closing message: I'm actually quite proud of myself for suppressing my obsessive need to own the latest gadget, and actually buying the one that made logical sense for me. Plus when the new Airs come out you will all be looking at the ones you just bought and not look at it the same. I just braced myself and got it over with now, and realized, hey its still a great computer. Idk just my 2 cents to the other fanboys/girls, I think we forget what really matters sometimes just cuz we wanna have the newest toy SJ announced;p
You should edit the thread title to: "Looking for affirmation of my erroneous purchase of a 1st-gen macbook air that I overpaid for"

I love the psychology field, but engineers make more money.;)

It's just a jab at your futile attempt of an emotional diversion. Don't take it too seriously.
Either or, I think all macs are great machines. It's just that I think you could have done better with that money.

lol @ asking for peoples opinions, than yelling at them, desperately trying to justify your actions in the eleventh hour. if you really were happy this thread would not exist.

I can't say if it makes a difference or not as I didn't notice on my older MBA while running VLC. Perhaps if you only use VLC and NEVER watch a flash video online maybe you'll be fine. Regardless, it's never a good idea to ask a question of others to find out if something that you bought is a good AFTER you bought it as you'll likely hear things that you don't want to hear from others who've had a lot of previous experience with whatever you've just bought. It's best to ask such questions BEFORE you buy which may save yourself the hassle of buying something that you may some day (in this case likely sooner than later) end up regretting.

I use VLC idk if that is more efficient or would make a difference?
