Just went for my try on experience yesterday, and found it to be really touchy feely. It's almost as-if the Apple employees were trained not to let the customer touch/handle the phone at all unless it was strapped on the wrist.

I wanted to slip on the watch myself, but they insisted on putting it on my wrist for me, which just made things a little awkward. In the process, they ended up touching my arm/hands a lot more than was comfortable for a complete stranger.

At the same time, they seemed really guarded and protective of the watches when they were laying on the table. Every time I tried to handle one, he would pick it up and polish it, and lay it back down as if to imply "do not touch."

How was your fitting?

Had the same experience, but it's becuase of security/safety of someone stealing one.

Glad I went to see it because it made me sure I'll love it but it was a very uncomfortable experience.

I felt like I wasn't really supposed to touch them and the guy made me move to his left side so my left arm would be over the table, also asked me to put my Citizens watch in my pocket during the try on which I don't understand but whatever.

He did take the black sport band off of the space grey sport to put it on the stainless steel so I could so what mine will look like so that was nice.

He never let me put one on myself and got very nervous acting when I tried to take it off myself and stopped me and did it himself.

It would be much better if they were working models because with it playing the demo loop in kind of got awkward just standing there looking at it.

Same exact experience I had, minus the watch in the pocket (I didn't wear a watch to the store)
I felt the same way, each time I would "attempt" to touch it the employee would safeguard it with a micro fiber towel.

After the 3rd watch that the employee put on and took off my wrist I finally proceeded to take it off myself. The employee immediately motioned in my direction, but I turned into the table so I could examine it, cutting off the attempt to take it off my wrist and micro fiber safe guard. I could feel the tension rise and the employee seemed very anxious and quick to get the watch back. Each time I would touch it the employee would wipe it down.

I eventually asked the employee if they could put the micro fiber towel on the soft display pad and got the weirdest look, lol. After setting the micro fiber towel down I proceeded to examine the watch while keeping it just a few inches from the towel. This immediately eased what seemed like nerve or some type of tension with the employee. I'm familiar with handling jewelry and the display pad isn't sufficient enough IMO so the micro fiber towel doubled as a drop cloth.

I also thought it was very strange to stand there and watch a demo display on my wrist...really? (Maybe they don't want people standing there for an extended period with it attached to their wrist lol)
Great watch, looking forward to getting mine...whenever it ships.

I had a brief try-on experience on Sunday and I definitely felt like I was being rushed. I got to try on four watch combinations and as a result I realized that the 42 mm is really too big for my wrist. After my appointment I changed my order from the 42 mm/milanese loop to a 38 mm w/milanese loop. I wish I had had more time during the appointment to touch and feel the watch and to try the doing the band myself but thankfully I had taken pictures of it and that helped me to make my decision after reviewing the pictures. I could have handled the larger watch face but the milanese loop wrapped almost double around my wrist so it looked awkward.

My husband had a bad experience this afternoon during his try-on session. The sales associate was very reluctant for him to touch the watches, insisted on putting them on his wrist and was wiping them obsessively in between trying each model. At the end of the try-on session my husband told the Apple employee that he was really dissatisfied with the entire process. I was a little uncomfortable but he had a point. Neither of us are going to run off with a watch, we both own fine jewelry and watches and know how to handle them...it felt like a very untrusting environment and very different from our typical experiences at the Apple Store. I had even made an appointment with the business team (who know me really well and know how much our company spends with Apple), so it was a really strange experience.

As a result of his try-on experience, my husband also changed his order from a space black with space black link bracelet to a SS with milanese loop. He's still annoyed that he didn't have time to properly touch and feel and test the various watch bands. We're both hoping that as time goes on they will relax their policies, especially for known/trusted business customers like us.

Yes! Every time he would get one back it had to go through a polishing for 10 seconds, it was very uncomfortable.

Confused why Apple try to make the experience something is not, can imagine how uncomfortable I would feel in that situation lol you can go to any island around here and try a royal oak with nobody guarding you like a hawk of course in some places they will bust out the white gloves but still the experiences I'm reading here are ridiculous for a smart watch.

I popped in to my local store yesterday with no appointment and played with the display models. A member of staff asked if I wanted to try them on right now and I said yes. I was surprised they had slots at lunchtime but they did.

The associate helping me was very good she let me try lots of different combinations and even suggested some extra ones to try. I had no problems handling them or putting them on myself.

The mixed results suggest that apple themselves don't know how best to do this trying on.
