This honestly needs to be a sticky.

£599.99 for phone and £25 for bumper = $955 and im on o2 simplicity which is £20 a month.

thats an unlocked 32Gb iphone.

OK fair enough, firstly simplicity is not quite the same as a contract phone, you can cancel it at any time and you get extra perks over PAYG for agreeing to spend £20 per month instead of the variable cost of PAYG.

My initial point though was your headline grabbing $956 price.

I won't provide a details breakdown, but if you're quoting a dollar price then you don't include tax, because american prices dont include it.

Your headline grabbing $956 turns into a $788 for what is effectively an unlocked PAYG phone.

Dont quote figures unless you use them in correct context.

yea but comon, an iphone that has problems with the acutal phone part?

i dont want people with working iphones to be defensive here i just want to hear about other people with defective iphone 4's returning the item.

Dont quote figures unless you use them in correct context.

its not about conversion, its about paying that much sterling i paid for the product, damn.. and anyone reading this knows how much the phone cost so quit clutching at straws.

Good, one less person whining.
What is with the hate for people who have a defective phone? The phone SHOULD NOT have this type of issue. The 3G or 3GS does not have this type of issue.

People shell out a lot of money for these phones. They should not have to hold it differently for it to work, nor should they be considered 'whining'.

Who's clutching at straws?

What I'm saying is that by quoting a dollar price any american looking at that will look at it and add 'sales tax' onto it, they'd think that you'd actually spent $1003 @ an average of 5% sales tax.

I'm not trying to call you a liar, you should just be aware of the context you use when quoting figures.

How many of those phone's antennas were focussed on and hyperbolically referred to as "brilliant engineering" during a keynote speech on their cinematic unveiling, only to have their inherent flaws defended months down the track as having the same paltry problems as every other phone on the market?

It might be a common problem to phones but you don't have to buy into jobs' ridiculous BS. One is well within their rights to laugh at jobs in damage control mode :D.

why would you add sales tax when i said it was a conversion from Uk sterling ? i didnt even mention adding tax. anyway im bored of your trolling.

back to the issue.

didnt apple already say they would release a cdma version iphone in sept?

I could tell that Steve was pretty tired of all this silly drama. Who wouldn't be? Come out with The Phone to beat, do it for years in a row, then have all the piss ants squeaking away just to draw attention to themselves.

Oh, OK, I'm a troll because I tried to explain a concept you don't understand.

Good for you, its crap what he said today. I'm considering returning mine now, but there just isn't anything out there to get that I consider better. Hopefully something gets announced soon.

For about half a hour, Apple today was pointing out how rare this problem. Even if it affected say 10-15% of owners, that still isn't the majority.

Then at the end, they still went out of the way to cater to their needs (the minority) by offering a full refund (no restocking fee) or free cases.

I'll take Steve's BS then!

but have they fixed the problem? No.

Fricken bandaid is all it is.

For someone with clean hands and that has moved on you sure do hang around for awhile.

What is with the hate for people who have a defective phone?

1. Depending on how you look at it, either 0% of the phones are defective or 100% of the phones are defective. They all work the same way.

2. The "hate" comes from people who complain about the issue incessantly and aren't doing the common sense thing: returning the phone. And the response you call "hate" is more "relief" that someone is actually claiming to go through with it. Though, I still have my doubts that half the people who say they're returning it actually will. If they are really going through with it, why are they still here? Why are they not in some Android forum furtively bubbling with excitement about they stuck it to Steve and have a much better phone with much better reception?

Today's press conference confirmed everything I've been saying from the beginning: Apple doesn't look at blogs or news reports, and doesn't pay attention to whiny posts in forums. They look at two things: returns, and complaints made directly to them. Which makes sense actually, since the best way to try and resolve a problem with your iphone 4 is to go back to the company that made the phone and let them know you're having trouble with it, instead of posting thread after thread here. You know, seeing as this isn't forums.macrumorsandiPhone4AntennaRepair.com or anything...

The stats say both figures - returns and reception complaints - are extremely low. So what conclusion were they supposed to come up with? Why are people keeping phones that they claim they're unable to use?

The phone SHOULD NOT have this type of issue. The 3G or 3GS does not have this type of issue.

That's not what the video evidence tells us, actually.

People shell out a lot of money for these phones. They should not have to hold it differently for it to work, nor should they be considered 'whining'.

No, they shouldn't be considered "whining." They should be considered "heading back to the place they bought the iPhone 4 and getting a refund if it affects them so badly."

But, the majority of them still appear to not do this. So what do they do? They whine. And the rest of us only consider you what you actually are.

Ooooooh snap!

Someone please make that a sticky!

Love the phone 4 cosmetics, love the appstore, gf has 3gs and loves it, but i cannot handle having an iphone4 that cost me £625 including the bumper, and not have it work how it should of and states.

Apples conference made me angry and im not being snubbed.

i will buy another phone when its all sorted and i dont have to wait over 3 weeks for a phone.

as for the apps ive bought, i will use them on my ipod touch.

sorry apple, you created a phone that didnt work, you blew it.

Trolls do you're worse :)

Everyone who complains about their iPhone 4 should do this. If you don't like the iPhone 4, don't get it or return it!

my gfs 3gs doesnt have the problem ? if the ip4 was say £300? id let it slip maybe. but its over half a grand.
