Have to say that made me laugh. You can't call sitting on your phone reasonably careful.
Alright, then let me clarify ... normally I'm very careful to not sit on my phone, but it has happened numerous times with no incident.

But I could see you might interpret what I said as "I was sitting carefully on my phone ...", which would be funny ("Hey Bob, are you crackin' a one-cheek-sneak, or are you sitting on your iPhone?")

When this all blew up didn't Apple say they would replace any bent phones? (Can't be bothered searching the Net right now).

My 6+ is over three months old and it isn't bent (yet).
However, even before the 'bendgate' thing it seemed pretty obvious to me that a thin slab of oversized and hollow aluminium would be rather fragile. I consider it prudent to baby my phone, but then I always have done over the years anyway. You just can't expect this to hold up as well as a stainless steel iPhone 4. It's bigger, thinner, and made of aluminium.

Those who say "mine hasn't bent so therefore yours shouldn't either" are missing the point somewhat. Nobody can tell me that the 6+ isn't the most fragile iPhone yet. Look after it and you'll be fine but I firmly believe that it needs more babying than most if not all other phones out there.

Totally agree. I don't understand the people that come out with that kind of argument. The bending has happened to many and can happen to anyone. The 6+ is big and it is so thin. I baby it but I think I am going to have to find a better case than the original lether Apple case it has right now. I usually don't put the 6+ on the front pocket of my jeans (something I always did with my IP5) but sometimes I forget and just put it there. It fits without any problem but the bending possibility gives me the chills.

Pre-ordered iPhone 6 Plus here and no bending. I do not use a case. All I have is a SW "skin". I do a lot of automotive fabrication and repairs in/around/under cars and keep my phone in my front pocket during it all with no issues. It really never ceases to amaze me how people manage to bend these. I've never even cracked one of these screens, and this is going on my 8th year of continuous iPhone ownership.

I don't care how careful some people claim they are but, outside of a purely accidental situation (fall on it or some such) you have to be fairly unobservant to bend your iPhone.

When I say "unobservant" I mean a situation along the lines of -

Phone gets turned horizontal in your pocket and you obliviously squat down (even though it should be fairly obvious your phone is turned "wrong") causing it to get bent across your thigh

Phone is on your bed and you're a sloth and roll onto it or otherwise trample it in a fit of lazy obliviousness

You keep your phone in your back pocket (like a girl) and sit on it

Etc.

Almost every single situation in which these phones commonly get bent are easily avoidable with even a tiny modicum of situational awareness/common sense. Could the phones be stronger? Sure. But that doesn't mean most of these bent iPhones aren't competely avoidable.
