Can anyone answer these couple of questions for me regarding AW battery...I seem to find mixed responses both when googling and and when searching these forums...

1. At the end of the day sometimes my battery life is only down to 40% or 50%...is it ok to put on the charger overnight anyway to ensure I start the next day with a full charge? Is this harming the battery/battery life of the device?

2. When I take my AW off the charger in the mornings it'll be slightly warm at first. I didn't notice this the first day or two but lately I've been noticing it. I know it's inductive charging so it's going to produce some heat; is it normal for the device to be slightly warm after being on the charger overnight?

I have a 38mm SGS and started the day at 5:40am with 100%. I did maybe 30 texts, used Siri several times, did a 30 min work out, then used Siri to navigate for an 1hr 30min trip and it is now 1am and I am just now at 10%. I'm actually really surprised by the usage Im getting out of the battery. I haven't had any issues with extreme draining and I fiddled around with the watch on and off all day. I have my tactic set on high and my brightness on medium.

Update on the 38mm which usually uses 40% per day for me...

Currently testing how the battery lasts when cycling using the Activity tracker:

A 2hr 30m ride yesterday used around 35% (or 14% per hour). At that rate, it could even last a long 5-6 hour century ride which would be excellent, although maybe not the rest of the day.

Additionally, this was a passive recording. I just started the Activity then rolled my sleeve jacket down over the watch - I use a Garmin EDGE and HRM for ongoing monitoring of HRM, speed, cadence, distance, time, etc.

It's more convenient glancing down to the stem/out front mount than taking my hand off the bars and twisting to activate the watch. Not sure the Watch is the best when moving at speed but more leisurely rides might be ok.

I do plan on trying Strava app too to see how that performs.

My days are usually 18 hours long. Moderate 42mm watch use plus a 45-60 min run every day. I consistently finish with about 30-40% left in the tank.

How good is battery life? Enough so that I've forgotten to take of the watch several times now and had just the charge in the morning while I get ready (about 20-40 minutes) for work be plenty to get me through the rest of the next day.

Is 80-90% even possible?
Doubt it.

I charge mine at night (I wear it before I sleep, using it as an alarm, taptic touch does a good job of waking me up.)

70-80% left when I get up, usually <20% at the end of the day.

I'd agree with Apple's estimation.

I take my 42mm SBS off the charger sometime between 8 and 10am and go to bed anywhere from 12 to 2am. I usually have anywhere from 30% to 50% remaining depending on usage during the day.

Only had it go into Power Reserve once after unexpectedly sleeping at a friend's place.

I'm just back from a few days away in the wilds that my wife dragged me off to, doesn't she know I've work to do ;)

Anyway, on this trip my watch managed to last for a little over 39 hours before dying on me. Granted I mainly just used it for messages, email and activity tracking but there was quite a lot of those three things (oh and telling the time of course.)

It's the longest my watch has gone between charges, I was actually really impressed.

That's impressive, with a bit of optimization after few watchOS updates, it could potentially last longer.

60-70% battery remaining after a full day (8a-midnight). Work at a hospital. Use my phone less during the day and get home with 80% on it. Typical use is Messages, Dark Sky, checking HR, 1.5-2h work out.

I go on a 2 hour bike ride with the workout app on, answer texts and check notifications all day, it's off the charger for 8am to midnight and I still finish around 50-60%

I'd say battery is good

Easily 18 hours! As long as you have the screen brightness set to minimum, and are using it only to tell the time, checking twice an hour max.

In the (nearly) two months I've owned my watch I've found it to far surpass my expectations and the 18 hour mark. That's with full brightness and plenty of use. It's never let me down yet and it's never not made it through a day.

Still, that's good for your battery life ;)
Have you just recently moved to where you are. I know it can be quite expensive for friends and family to message between countries depending on where they are.

I moved over to South Korea for a IT contract with DOD, 2 years now. We mostly use WiFi to chat and message as calling and such is expensive. Its much easier now then a few years ago as you have all the free calling in facebook messenger and WhatsApp. Still being so far away, most of my friends drifted away...sucks , but the pay is great and I dont pay taxes :)

No taxes you say, sign me up :D

While I have only had since Saturday both Sunday night and Monday at the end of the day had about 50% remaining but then I often can go 2 days with my 6+ although I do charge it nightly.

Figured I'd chime in.

Just finished my first full day with the watch.

Took off charger and started day at 6:30am, it's now 9:40. So roughly 15 hours, and I still have 41%.

Keep in mind this was day one so a lot of new gadget tinkering/syncing of apps etc. Today was also my birthday so probably had 2-3x the normal amount of notifications.

All that said, I'm very pleased with the battery life in my limited experience.

Off the charger at 8am. Now 6am the next day, I've been up all night, and heading to bed now. 44% left.

I couldn't be much happier.
