Day 2 and I'm really not thrilled with the battery life. Seems to be draining at a rate of about 10%+ an hour. undocked at 6:50am and it's now 2:20 and I'm at 27%. Several notifications, one voice text message, and a few setting changes but nothing else. In that time I even put it in power reserve for 30 mins.

I heard potentially un-pairing and repairing might help? Anyone have any other tips? I deactivated "hey Siri" and turned the brightness down halfway through that time and it didn't seem to drain any more slowly.

I do feel like I'm checking the battery pretty frequently, by looking at the watch face. Maybe as bad as once every 5 mins. Could that play a role? I've got a pretty basic watch face.

I don't want to have to get a new one, hoping I can fix this some way. I did get the 1.01 update yesterday.

Also in the same boat (with SGS 42mm). Received yesterday morning and thought it was draining very quickly all day. I re-paired it this morning and was hoping for a better second day. 100% at 9:45am and now at 2:45pm I am already at 40%. No 3rd party apps. Brightness all the way down. I have simple watch face. Only notifications I have set up are text and email. And I haven't used it much at all today. Dismissed about 5 emails, replied to 3 texts, checked pulse once, showed someone at work about a 1 minute demo of some things on watch which included Siri answering 1 question. And other than looking at the time periodically (not obsessively), that is literally all that I did on the watch so far today. I have also tried re-booting a couple of times. I am hoping that this is part of a "breaking in" period, however it seems drastically worse than others have commented about on here. Hope it gets better.

I'm having same problem with 42mm SG Sport.

Just got it Tuesday.

Basic setup, very minimal usage and I am recording a pretty consistent 10% drain per hour. I have reset watch, reset phone, unpaired, restored from backup, finally wiped watch clean and erased all content, set it up again and seems to be the same. I called Apple support and was told to re-calibrate the battery by letting it go completely dead. Then charging to 100% and check it again.

I am going to try this and will report back, otherwise I will have to return it. Support guy told me because of back-orders, swapping out for a new one may not be an option which sort of stinks because I can just as easily return this since I'm within 14 days, but then I can't get another watch! :(

Aside from that I am loving the watch!

Something is very strange, my usage hasn't changed, but my battery life is now horrible. I can't even make it through a work day. No installed apps. It all started when I got a new phone, I broke my old one. I tried both restoring from backup, and setting up as new, same results.

I'm really upset, I'll have to make an appointment I guess if it doesn't get better.

I'm not going to bother wearing it if it doesn't last a full work day.

42mm SG for just over 2 weeks and have only had it below 50 percent once. Do lots of workouts and even play music from it. I'm glad I got a good one anyways.

What was your old phone and what is your new phone (model) all these battery problems throughout 3-4 threads is crazy. The only thing that hasn't been discussed is which phone model everyone is using. Not that I can see why that would make s difference, but there has to be something. Maybe we need to find out the week of manufacturing of the watch too?

Here a screenshot of my 42mm SS.
Was at 3% when i took the screenshot.

Both 6plus 64 GBs. My one fell off my bike so I got a new one through Apple Care.

I have a 5S.

Interesting development: It was at 14% when I got home from work (so it dropped 86% in 9 hours). I put it on the charger for about an hour, and it was at 64% when I came back for it. Had it for about an hour and a half, messed with it probably more than I had most of the day, and it's only gone down to 59%. Hope this is the norm and not an anomaly.

For those having battery problems I wonder if backing up, wiping and restoring your iPhone will help?

As I noted in my experience changing phones has made my watch battery life much better. But I wonder if this is because of the phone or because of restoring the phone?

Maybe some people can try and report back.

That'll be my next step, but I'm actually impressed with the sudden change.

Now after just over 2 hours including one 25 minute Outdoor Run I'm only down to 50% (so 14% drop).

Again if this is just a fluke then I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to my phone rather than the watch itself so I'll try the wipe.

I'm probably anomaly hunting here, but another thing I did that maybe affected this issue is that when I woke up it was at 98%. I took it off the charger and put it back on. 5 mins later it was at 100% and that's when I took it off. Seems like a stretch, but maybe that had something to do with it?

Here's a bit more info..

I'm paired with a 6+ 128GB

I reported earlier that the apple tech told me to let the battery die and that would re-calibrate the battery.

So I have been letting it go, here is an interesting thing...

The battery continued to drain at 10% per hour until I hit 28% left, at which point (still wearing the watch) I ran out doing errands and 5 hours later, I am at 11% which is a 3.5% burn rate!

I also noticed that during this time, since wiping the watch, rebooting the phone, and re-pairing, the heart rate monitor appears to NOT be measuring every 10 mins like it is supposed to.... I am wondering if the heart rate monitor has been the culprit? Although I am sure everyone else with good battery life has the heart rate monitor constantly monitoring...

Just some more info for those with the same issue.

I will report back tomorrow after the watch has died and brought back to life.

Charging at 10:30. It dropped down to 36%. So an additional 3 and a half hours and it only dropped 14 more percent. And I've been using it quite regularly. Crazy. Especially given what I was experiencing this morning.

Well hope the problem really did magically fix itself.

My randomly is fixed after charging this afternoon. That's really bizarre that several of us had this issue and it magically went away.

(42mm SG received yesterday) Today is the first day I started my day with 100%. At 1pm, it was 40%. I switched to power reserve when it reached 10% around 4:30pm.

I work in office all day and no workouts at all.

Very worried about battery life, will observe another 2 days before I go to Apple Store on Sunday.

I disabled 'hey siri feature'. It turns out my 2nd day battery life is very different from 1st day, even doubled.

I wore my watch this morning at the same time as yesterday at 100%. At 1pm today, it has 81% (compared to 40% yesterday).

Will keep observing.

Just so nobody thinks I'm telling stories! 38mm

Do you have 'hey siri' turned OFF to achieve that battery life?

Hi everyone!
yesterday arrived my brand new apple watch 38 mm space gray. Gourgeus!!
But i'm already worried about battery life. I unplagged it at 6.00 a.m. at 100% (of course) and now it's 12.30 a.m. (here in Italy) ad the battery level is 21%. I only checked 5/6 notifications and nothing special more.
Someone says it coud be normal for the second day life of the device. but i'm not so sure!
Please help me....if u can!
Thx a lot

UPDATE

After the death of the battery (2.30 p.m.) i re-paired the watch with the same iphone 6 and everything changed. Today i unplagged the watch at 6.15 a.m. and at 12.30 a.m. the battery level shows 85%....obviously considering the same use!

No

Got it on Wednesday afternoon. Charged it overnight. Put it on at 6 am Thursday, then took it off for an hour from 7-8 while swimming. Didn't make any phone calls or use for music, just checked a dozen or so text messages, checked the time a bunch of times, checked heart rate 5 or 6 times, checked activity a few times, and browsed around the different apps for maybe a total of 15 minutes. Brightness is set at 50%.

It was down to 18% by 230 pm, so I had to put it on reserve power.

Put it back to regular function at 5 pm, it was at 14%. I wanted to see how it counted activity when I rode my horse. Only rode for about 35 minutes since it was so hot, and it was at 7% when I got home and put it back on the charger at 730 pm.

So far, VERY disappointed in battery life. I'm giving it another day but I will likely ask for an exchange if today is similar.

Yesterday I had horrible battery life on both my 42mm space grey Apple Watch and the iPhone 6 it is paired with. The iPhone 6 was all the way down to 20% at 2pm and required charging. The watch was down at 27% at 2pm and also required charging so I stopped off at home to let it charge.

This was my first full day of use and several things were unusual. First of all, my iPhone couldn't get on the free wifi at work for some reason and spent all day searching for a signal and that's why I think it ran down. Second of all yesterday was my first full day of Apple Watch use so I really don't know if running out of juice mid-afternoon is a glitch or something I will have to deal with from now on. I went on store.apple.com and bought a spare AW charging pendant/cable so I can top it off at my desk at work if necessary. I'm hoping this will never be necessary. I'll vote in the poll once I have a day or more of usage that doesn't seem affected by unusual circumstances.

Took off my watch at 9:15pm with 51% remaining. That's impressive 15 hours of usage!!! Very strange.

Will enable "hey Siri" tomorrow and observe my 3rd day.

UPDATE

So after allowing the watch to die as per the Apple Tech, and charging to 100%, I am happy to report that so far looks like performance is as expected. After 4 hours of wearing the watch, few messages, few mail notifications, and casual glancing, my battery is at 93%. This is well along the lines of what I expected.

So I am not 100% certain what actually fixed it but looks like it is good now. I do not have anything turned off or disabled. Even using prominent haptic.

The one thing I noticed through the 2 day ordeal is that is looks like the heart monitor was pretty much going bonkers. I was getting multiple heart rate measurements per minute, every minute. Today it is doing one measurement per hour.

I have also updated to 1.01 right after getting the watch so not sure how that affected all this. I know there is an issue with 1.01 and HR monitor.

Best of luck to all!

Glad to see its looking better today! Phew! #

Today I'm at 85% at noon while yesterday I was bleeding below 50% by this time. I've updated to OS 1.0.1. I've also gotten my first full night of charging before today.

Last night I let my watch battery go down to 4%, restored iPhone, re-paired watch, and fully charged over night. Battery now seems to be operating normally. Been off charger for over 6 hours and only at 85% now (yesterday I was at about 30% after 6 hours) with same settings and usage.
