Does it have a haptic alarm like the Pebble or UP? Can you charge it for 2 hours during the evening and wear it at night the aforementioned as an alarm and sleep tracker? Does it have sleep tracking capabilities like the UP?

No sleep tracking, but you can definitely use it as an alarm.

14 hours 30 minutes since I unplugged. Of that, 2 hours 21 minutes is usage, 12 hours 6 minutes of standby and I'm at 63%. The battery life rocks.

So it becomes the alarm and doesn't simply set alarms on the iPhone?

Is the alarm haptic vibration based or is it auditory?

The whole point of the Pebble and UP band alarms and I think some of the Fitbits do it as well is that they wake you by vibration, which is nice when you need to get up early but don't want to wake up your spouse/significant other.

Sleep tracking is a novelty type thing, but kind of cool. Maybe the answer is to charge the Watch by night and use an UP (since I do own one) to do the alarms and sleep tracking. Only downside is that my UP is first generation and all syncing is by plugging in. Everytime you want to change an alarm you have to physically link it. I believe the UP24 (2.0 model) does it wirelessly. Just update the app and send the new info over.

Workout app definitely uses a fair bit of battery due to the LED's however I have used it on workout for an hour each day and have been playing with it heaps and have not run out of battery any day yet.

Started at 6AM - By 11PM it was at 26%.
Turn off the fitness monitor and activity tracking, and power saving under the heart rate, and you'll get a lot better battery.

Good idea, I'm gonna remove heart rate from glances to see it battery life will improve. I still want activity tracking though.

Usage

Sports 42mm.

Had it since launch. 1.5 hours dog walk each day on Outdoor Walk setting, plus heart monitor on, plus fiddling with this and that on the watch. Over the weekend up at 8am and bed at 2am (!) and still have around 30% left. Even better for me (and I know this isn't for everyone) my iPhone 6 battery life is much better because I am using it less.

V happy.

Watch: 42mm SS
Usage: 3hrs 33 mins
Standby: 15hrs 36 mins
Default brightness
Audio notifications off, only taptic on (audio pings were doing my head in as I get a lot of emails and messages so I muted them on day one)
Battery level: 38%

Charged overnight, had it on from 7am till bedtime really happy with the battery as I had a 30 min sesh on the rowing machine in there too on the workout app.

My SS 42 mm is at my wrist since 6am - now it´s 1:30pm in Germany and my Battery-Stats 86 % - so everything is fine for me...:)

I turned off the Weather 'complication' I had on the watch face and my battery life has improved dramatically!

Got it Friday...

On Saturday I was obviously playing with it quite a bit and actually used it for about 15-20 minutes worth of phone calls early on. Here are the stats for Sat:

6:30am - 100%
11:00pm - 17%

Now on Sunday I think I used it very close to what will be a very typical usage day as it settles into my lifestyle. Here are those stats:

7am - 100%
10:45pm - 40%

I think I had something like close to 4 hours of usage time and 15 hours of standby.

So - in the end I think it's going to be just perfectly fine for an average (and even slightly above) days use. ESPECIALLY if you use it as intended and aren't trying to turn it into an iPhone on your wrist (games, videos, lots of photo browsing, email browsing, etc...).

Yes and no. The UP band uses the sleep tracking to tell if you are in light or deep sleep, and can wake you within a range of time based on the type of sleep you are in. If you are in light sleep when the alarm goes off, you'll feel less groggy and have an easier time getting up.

Without sleep tracking, the apple watch can only wake you at the exact time you tell it to. It's basically a dumb alarm rather than a smart alarm. But yeah, you'd get the benefit of not waking your partner.

FWIW, I use sleep tracking to monitor how I sleep and compare that to my day, bedtime, what I ate, etc. and it's convinced me to make some changes that have had a pretty big impact on my life. So, yeah, it's a novelty if you choose to see it that way, but I don't consider it a novelty at all.

The battery on my sport 42mm is really good. Heavy use all day on Saturday after a full charge. Friends all using it and testing its features. 1am still had 40%.

Not sure what the reviewers were doing, except copying one another. I'm also interested to note my iPhone's battery isn't as badly impacted either.

Current stats for my 42mm SS

Usage 3 hours, 22 mins
Standby 1 day, 6 hours

Battery 19%

I didn't charge it last night after only using it from midday yesterday and it's still going, so I'm pretty happy with the battery life I'm getting!

So far my 42mm SS battery life according to the iPhone is,

This is from a 100% charge.

Usage: 2hr 37min
Standby: 1 day 8hrs

Battery life left is 30%.

Very pleased with that.

Had no trouble with battery over the weekend Would last 18 hours + and have 20% at end of night. Today is the first say using fitness tracking and battery life definitely worse...Granted I did a lot of exercise today. Woke at 5:45 am used fitness activity app for my 10 mile bike ride to work, then my 45 minute weight/pylometric workout. Then my 10 mile bike ride home. Currently at 34% at 2:00 pm Chicago time so about 8 hours. Will see how much the rest lasts. I have the 38 Sport.

Dead At End Of Day

This is not even possible because the Watch enter Power safe mode after 10% or i am wrong here?

Battery 71%
Use 1h 33min
Standby 13h 6min

SS 42MM

I think it enter power savings at 3%. It suggest to put it into power savings at 10%.

Dead at the end of the day = goes at 3% into power savings

Had watch on since 8AM, its now 10PM and I have 65% remaining, I would say the battery life is much better than I expected....

Watch: 42mm Space Grey
Usage: 2hrs 19mins

Off charger sine 8:30am it's now 2:06pm
Battery level: 79%
Way better then I thought for a work day.
Awesome !!!!

OK - getting to the end of my first normal/working day with the Apple Watch. Over the weekend , it was pretty much still a 'new toy' & I had time on my hands (no pun intended!) to 'play' with it, so used up battery power reasonably quickly. Today, I just got up, put the watch on fully charged & left it to get on with it...14hrs 30 mins later, I have 60% charge remaining (38mm)
