Even then, that wouldn't solve the problem. All the twitter apps have Tweetmarker syncing. Facebook syncing is a disaster. It won't remember timeline positions at all anywhere.

That's because Facebook doesn't want users to view a simple, chronological list of their friends' posts. They want their algorithms to be used so that you see the stories THEY think you want to see so you'll be more engaged and interested and spend more time there viewing more ads and making more money. I agree with you completely, I always go to the Most Recent view and try to find my position from last time, but Facebook has made it clear that's not the prefrerred experience. They changed the default from Most Recent to Top Stories and then they shuffled Most Recent off to a sub-sub menu option.

I think Facebook is definitely an iPhone app. You get notifications on your Watch now, which you can then decide whether to open up the app to deal with. Other than that I don't see much use for it on the watch.

Messenger I agree with, would be good to be able to reply.

Rich notifications. As it is now, when you get a notification from Facebook it says "So and so commented on your status" or if you have Close Friends "So and so posted a picture". This tells me essentially nothing. If instead the notification popped up and it had a thumbnail of the picture or it had had a snippet of your status and then a snippet of the comment, it would be much more useful, to me at least. Different people use Facebook in different ways, but I frequently have conversations with people in the comments of my statuses. There's nothing that frustrates me more than when I post something and get a notification that says someone commented on my status and when I open the app to check it was someone posting "ha ha" on something I wrote last week. This is why I have always kept email notifications for Facebook on, they quote what they person said in the email so I can see it when I get the notification, although Facebook is such now that even getting those is hit or miss.

Mind you, we are still awaiting them to update with the quick reply feature on the notifications on the iPhone.

Yeah, as much as I would like to see the features I mentioned above, the reason why they don't exist on the iPhone now is because Facebook wants people to have to open the app to see what happened because again, that's more engagement, that's more ads, and that means more money for them.

There is still no sign of an official Facebook app for the Apple Watch. I found WatchPost on the AppStore the other day. At least it allows me to post status updates from my Apple Watch. That's a start. :) https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app/watchpost-for-facebook/id1061376047?mt=8

You want to post status updates from your watch. I don't get it. Most of my status updates include something like a picture, link, location, etc. None of that stuff is on your watch, let alone trying to type?

I use Facebook for friends and family, and also Yammer and Slack for work. The Yammer watch app just shows direct messages and notifications. Slack on the watch shows direct messages and posts that mention me personally. The FB Messenger app covers direct Facebook messages. None of these social networks have tried to display the entire newsfeed on the watch app, and I don't blame them. That would result in a watch app that is slow, uses too much storage and battery, and requires you to scroll through a ton of text to find posts you actually care about... That is a task that would take much less time on an iPhone.

I personally don't have a desire to use Facebook on my watch. If I am browsing or posting to FB, it's when I have time to get out iPhone or, even better, use my computer. Now if Facebook makes a watch app that lets you choose to see only posts from specific groups or individuals, they might be on to something.

Zuckerberg is wisely taking a wait and see position. It's no secret that AW remains a gadget that is tethered to iPhone in order to be useful. That's a huge drawback, an expensive one too.

With it being highly unlikely that Apple would ever separate the two, it doesn't make much sense to have Facebook on such a tiny gadget.

Sometimes I just want to post a thought without pictures, links, location and cats. :) As for typing, I just dictate my post into the watch.

How long did it take them to release an iPad app?
People don't realize how many of us OG iPad owners had to use tricks and workarounds to get a hacked version that worked on an iPad.
If there is no money in it for them, they move at a glacial speed.

OK... just never do that and haven't really seen posts like that in my newsfeed.

Hell - they _still_ haven't done even the most basic update to make the Facebook App compatible with iPad Pros! That's basically just asking them to hit the *recompile* button in XCode so that the iPad Pro can at least use the proper keyboard when posting!

I want to see my fb news feed on my wrist, thats the point.
How long are you willing to sit there with your wrist propped up?

Gmail app is also missing - just to read inbox...
I get GMail on mine through the standard Mail app. I even have my watch set to only notify me when messages arrive from my work GMail and VIPs.
