How can you drain to 0? By that time I'll be in power reserve for two days LOL! I did a hard reset. And that seems like it may have fixed it. I'll keep an eye on it. Her battery seems to be lasting. She's at 88% right now.

My watch only gives me a recommendation to go into power reserve mode and doesn't actually force it.

I'm going to bring it to the Genius Bar tomorrow and see what they say. I'll have my wife charge it again tonight and see what happens. Originally I was gonna have her try to drain it, but they have diagnostics in the store. I'll let them tell us what to do :)

My watch was not warm after charging the first night (Friday night). Did the same thing Saturday night, and today it was very warm and only charged to 99%.

My phone is also cool to the touch after charging to 100% and remaining on the charger (just as the Watch was the first night).

I think there is a software bug affecting some watches. But I'll take it in and see what they say.

According to: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204508

Be aware that Apple Watch, its power adapter, and Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable warm up when plugged in to a power source.

It's normal behavior. Usually when I charge mine overnight the watch cools down within 30 seconds or so after taking it off the charger and placing it on my wrist.

If it remains unusually warm longer off the charger you should take in to the Apple Store to get it looked at.

:)

Except that I have two watches. And one is always cool and at 100%. The other is always warm and at 98%. Like I said, I'm gonna bring it in, but I doubt they'll do anything for me. I'll probably have to call but I'll see what they say.

Think it's most definitely normal. It's always a little warm right off the charger but so was the moto 360 I used for a few months. It cools off fairly quickly

The warmness is not really concerning me, I guess. It's the fact that it's only 98%.

Ok I switched charging plugs, USB cable, and stand. She now has mine and I have hers. We will see what happens in the morning.

Ok latest update. Her watch wasn't charging properly on my griffin watch stand. The same one I use for my 42mm. So now, I put her watch in the watch box on its side with the cable directly connected. No stand. Looks like it's charging. So till tomorrow.

Ok small update! Appears to have been the stand? Watch is at 100% right now. That makes me happy :).

My Watch got really warm the first 2-4 days I charged it when I took it off in the morning but that phase has worn off. After about a week it was just warm, but I think it might have been because it left it on top of a cloth in a drawer. Since I got my stand and have it on my dresser, when I take it off the charger in the morning, the surface is just slightly over room temp. Similar actually to my MBP, so nothing I'm concerned with.

Everything that Apple makes with a battery is known to run / charge warm to hot. Cool temps are not one of Apples priorities.

Unfortunatly this is not only true of those devices, but of laptops and iMac's also.

You only have to Google to find millions of issues with fans spinning up to try and cool Apple computers, and them running HOT :(

Within max specs yes, but that's still not good to fun hot even if it is within the MAX.

Unfortunately this comes, as always about trying to cram too much into a super thin case, just so it looks nice.

Personally, and I know this is only my view. I would much rather they made, for example, and iMac 1" thicker, and make it run super cool.
Even be able to fit a high end proper graphics card, with a large custom made heat sink in the back then also.

Oh how I wish Apple would offer this as an option for those users like myself that would love such products :(

Her puck is warm but battery at 100%. I'm content.

How do we know it is the puck that is warm and not the back of the watch heating the puck up? The puck is rather a passive device and does not turn on and off. It is the watch that controls the charging. The put is doing the same thing it does attached to your watch while layer there with no watch attached to it.

The puck is metal. Whether the puck is heating, or vice versa, there will be heat transfer. Again, I'm not concerned about the heat to be honest. I expect there to be some heat. My watch may be cooler because it has a full metal band to dissipate the heat. Hers is the 38mm modern buckle.

Most Mac batteries will stop charging by 96% on up to 100%. I've seen my SS do this several times, and it's warm on the charger but the heat is gone within 5-10 mins of regular wear. No need to look for issues where there aren't any.

Ah but clearly there was an issue here. The stand I was using wasn't housing the puck properly for the 38mm watch. I took it off the stand and charged direct and got to 100%. I never had any iproduct, MacBook that hasn't charged to 100%.
