Hi, Sorry if this has been asked already, but one of the new changes to watch OS4 was meant to be that when you reach an activity goal such as as hitting all 3 goals during a day, there would be new animations.
So far in 2 days since updating to OS4, i only see the old display.

If the above isn't making sense, essentially, what i expect to be seeing is the activity rings circling like a fire-cracker when meeting my goals...

I have a Series 2 42mm SS Watch fwiw :)
Thanks
Tim.

It is working on my S0, however, sometimes there is a slight delay but I would assume that has more to do with the woefully outdated CPU on the S0. Did you upgrade or do a fresh install? I originally upgraded but I was missing all the new watch faces and could not even create them so I had to do a fresh install which I prefer anyway, and it worked. Sometimes when you upgrade you get some bugs that just pop up. Let me know which route you went.

Well, as far as if you lose your activity streaks/health data I am not sure. I know you can do a backup in iTunes which will backup your health data IF your backups are encrypted. You will have to wait for someone with a little more knowledge on this situation to chime in.

To do a fresh install, you simply go into the Apple Watch App on iPhone, go to "General", scroll to the bottom and click on "Reset" and then hit "Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings." That will put your Apple Watch back to factory settings, but since you already upgraded to watchOS 4, it will be running watchOS 4 when it is done restoring. DO NOT DO THIS until you figure out if/how you can save your activity streaks/health data, which I believe you can.

Sorry I could not help you out completely. I will do some digging on Apples website and see what I can find for you.

Same situation here; series 2 updated to OS 4, no sparkly new activity animations. Would rather not have to do a backup and install. Maybe Apple will fix it with the next minor update?

Interesting...S0 here and no new animations as well.

Upgrade or fresh install? All I can say is if you upgraded and some things are not working and you are not worried about possibly losing your health data/activity streak do a fresh install. Solved the missing watch faces thing with me.

Doubtful, because they work on my S0, as well as one of my friends S0, and two of my friends S2's. There has been tons of reported issues when upgrading. If you contact Apple, they will tell you to do a fresh install as well.

Upgraded. I see the new faces. Just not animations behind the Activity notifications. 541 day streak, so not trying to ruin anything!

S0 here, the sparkly animations play fine if I open the notification right away. Maybe it doesn’t play if you have Reduce Motion enabled?

Just checked; reduce motion was already off. Don’t see any other options that would affect the ring animations.

Figured it out! It’s a setting in the iPhone watch app, not accessible on the watch itself. Watch > My Watch > Notifications > Notification Privacy. I had that switched on, which meant I had to tap on an activity achievement notification to view it. This evidently prevents the new animation from playing. Switched the setting off, waited for the sound of my next activity completion, raised my wrist, and voila! There was the new animation in all its sparkling glory.

Obviously this isn’t a big deal but it’s still a little annoying that Apple couldn’t make the animations work with the privacy setting. C’est la vie.

You deserve a raise!
I did what you suggest and within 5 mins for a notification telling me a brisk 11 min walk will let me get my move goal. Havent seen these types of notifications previously!
A job well done - ill see my animating sparkling wheel in 34 calories time...

Sure enough this did the trick!

Agreed, that it shouldn’t resort to turning off privacy notifications just to see the animation, hopefully Apple fixes.

Thanks again!

I have a S0 and did an upgrade, not a restore/fresh install, and I have the new animations. That said, consider yourself lucky. the new achievement animations, while fun to look at, are inferior to the old achievement notification. in wOS4, my wrist gets pinged for a notification about the achievement, just like before, but instead of raising my wrist and seeing the info screen and moving on with my day, I am now greeted with a black screen which then lights up with a silly animated ring that glows which then dissolves into the achievement screen showing me what rings i filled. The old system took less then a second between activating the screen and getting the info. Now I am stuck looking at the screen for a few seconds waiting for the info to load after the silly light up circle animation.

Update:

I traded in my S0 for a S3 Nike + LTE.

My streak is still going however I lost over 100 days, I’m back in the 400’s. Bummer.

What does a streak of "400's" mean? Sorry I just got an Apple Watch S3 and i'm still new to everything.

It means the number of continuous days that you achieved your Move goal. Open the Activity app on your iPhone, then tap Achievements. If you tap on the badge that looks like a figure 8 on its side, it should tell how long your daily Move streak is - the number of continuous days you’ve achieved your goal.

Check your achievements tab in the Apple Watch app and then you should see an infinity sign like such.
