iOS 14 has corrupted the HealthKit database... if you connect it to a mac and open up console you'll see loads of these:

I have had two problems since updating my watch (series 4) and my iPhone (SE 2nd gen): my battery was running down very quickly and my activity data on my iPhone only showed the starting pin on the map after my morning walk. All other data was there, although the heart rate chart had gaps.

After unpairing and re-pairing (from backup) yesterday afternoon, my battery usage is much better and I now see the route map of this morning's walk on my iPhone. However, there is no heart rate data at all in the chart, either on my iPhone or my watch. Strangely, my watch seems to know what my average and high BPM values were on my walk - it just can't seem to chart them.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of how they changed the iOS Fitness/Workouts app either. They took away one of the icons at the bottom and now, so now there's no quick way to get to historical ring data. AFAIK nothing actually was improved in the app, it was just changed.

I had an issue with the Workout app right after updating to OS14 on my phone and OS7 on my Watch; fortunately, I caught it during a shorter lunch-walk, but for me the fix involved having to completely unpair and re-pair my Watch.

My issue involved: tracking just ... stopped in the middle of a workout. It worked fine for almost a 1/2 mile, and then just ... stopped. Time kept going, but that was it. I couldn't even pause my workout (but it stopped just fine).

Hard restarting (multiple times) didn't solve it.

I went for two separate walks just before and started them on the watch as usual. I also had my phone in my pocket. Now the fitness app shows no workout was recorded today but the activity app on watch does show them.
My other walks etc up to now we’re with watch only and phone left behind.

iPhone Settings / Privacy / Location Services /Apple Watch Workout

and the global on/off switch in location services

I've tried that, but it didn't work for me. I had to unpair Apple Watch and iPhone and then pair again.

Tap on the rings under Activity at the top, you can then tap on the calendar icon at the top right to see the history.

Ahhh, does this definitely fix it? Can't be bothered to go through the trauma and time of the unpairing/pairing process otherwise

Yes, for me (as well as for a colleague of mine) it did the work. Tracking, as I type this...

Similar, is anyone else having discrepancies between the Move ring and the active calories count in the health app? I'm pretty sure they used to be the same number, but now the move is almost double the Active Energy in Health.

Same here... Almost no calories in the Health app.

No. I contacted Apple Support. We went through all of the methods found here and on the support website. They ran remote diagnostics and found issues. They did not clarify if it was software or hardware. I will note that the first errors I found were a day or two before the updates became available. I am not convinced the issue is on our end.

After the update yesterday my run this morning showed on my phone this morning but not the last two days worth of workouts.

Still does not show the map. I guess the workout actually showing on the activity app is an improvement.

Updated watch to 7.0.1, updated phone to 14.1

Re-paired watch and phone.

Problem still exists. Map just shows the start location

There are threads over at the Apple Support forums about this. They can be found on runners forums too. Unfortunate timing as people start to get back out or running virtual races. I've read one mention that Apple is aware of this issue. The person that helped me did not seem to know about it. I'm still confused as to why I have data from a few days before the updates that show these issues.

Right, because that is quicker than just clicking the history button at the bottom of the screen. I know how to get it, I'm just saying they pointlessly made it more complicated.

I’m also having this issue Series 6 On 14.0.1. Not syncing with the fitness app on my iPhone. Very frustrating. Apples proposed solution is time intensive, and I’m terrified of losing my long streak I’ve worked hard on by doing a factory reset on both devices. Am I SOL? Im wondering if I should just wait for an official fix.

I did the Apple solution, reinstalling both phone and watch. GPS data of all my walks/cycle rides are gone. But for the rest it seems okay. Oh, exercises that were never synced to my phone are also lost (but I kind of expected that).

I've had the following issues with my series 4 watch since the WatchOS7 and iOS 14 updates:
  • Only about half my workouts are synced to my phone (though they are still logged on the watch).
  • Long gaps in heart-rate data during workouts.
  • Daily resting kilojoules/calories in the health app are only about 1/3rd what they used to be (and well below a reasonable value for an adult).
  • Daily active kilojoules/calories are also much lower.
Things I've tried: rebooting both phone and watch, getting a new phone (just upgraded to iPhone 12 Pro).
I haven't tried unpairing and repairing the watch, but reports from others say that doesn't work.

Wait for the new updates. Apple promises to solve it there. I followed the Apple steps with an iCloud backup and that solved my problem (but I've lost all my GPS data from previous workouts before September).

iOS 14.2 has indeed fixed the problem for me. There's still some missing data in the record, but it now seems to be working again.

Ahhh....I thought it was only me. All the activities and no exercise tracking. I have the series 6 with cellular, but I haven't connected cellular on my Apple Watch (I only use WiFi because I purposely don't want to be bothered when I don't have the phone on me).

I realized activity/ exercise tracking is only real if I take my phone with me during workouts. Other times, the watch just track or not track whatever it wants. It has a will of its own.
