No you should not because besides the same aluminum the iPhone has the same Gorilla glass. Apple is working on an iPhone for daily use and it should be out soon.:D

THE APPLE WATCH WILL BE ON YOUR HAND AND MOST PEOPLE WEAR LONG SLEEVES AND THEIR HAND IS ENCOUNTERED WITH MANY OTHER THINGS (I knwo how it sounds:))

iPhones are in the pocket but as you saw on the picture they could be scratched really easy without a case.

Your Watch will encouter many things. I don't know about you but I have worn watches for years and only worn with saphire glass and steel or titanium case.

----------

They're using a stronger Aluminum for Apple Watch Sport than they used for the iPhones. They even called out how this is a new, stronger Aluminum that will set the standard for their future aluminum use.

Yeah, I know. It's a guess. But since there are many people considering Sport version because of the price I just want you to know the probable risk.

Guys,

I don't think that the Sport Edition is meant to be worn every day. If you open Apple Watch (SS) site there is this sentence: "Apple Watch is designed to be worn during all your daily activities, from morning workouts to nights out." But If you open the Sport Edition there is nothing about daily working routine or something like that. And on every photo I have found with Apple Watch Sport edition there is noone with them in work, school, eating a dish or whatever.

That is why they gave to Christy Turlington Apple Watch with few bands and not the Sport one.

That is why Tim Cook wears Apple Watch with white sport band.

It's just a guess but to me it looks like that they've made them only for workouts and some minor daily routine. But If you want them for daily routine and charge them every night you'll end up with scratched back and front.

The difference between Apple Watch and Sport Watch is that the Sport version glass is tougher and more impact resistant - for sport only. But for daily routine when your watch will be encountered with clothes and let's say "ordinary scraping" the Apple Watch with Stainless Steel and Saphire Glass wil be MUCH more resistant.

Your thoughts, please.

My thoughts are that what you're saying is simply absurd.

So you always keep your iPhone in your pocket and never handle it eliminating the risk of dropping it?

Better quit while you're ahead.

This is the reason I don't like fat chunky watches.
I like a watch that my cuff slips over so it's covered and can't be seen.
You raise you arm and your cuff slips back, so you can see the watch, lower your arm and the watch gets covered again.

I've never wanted to "Display" a watch to others.

Why not? You'll be somewhere in the wild running. You'll stop at the grocery store. You'll buy some food. You'll pay with Apple Pay and than you'll order a cab via some app on your Apple Watch Sport. Simple as that. If they didn't include the other abillities on Sport version than many people won't buy it.

wouldn't the SS version get scratches/nicks as well?

This is completely asinine. The point of the statement on Apple's marketing page is to suggest that the Apple Watch will look well in a "professional" environment, but the Sport may not, depending on where you work. In all honesty, I could probably get away with the Sport model at my job, but I prefer the look of the steel model with the Milanese loop. This has nothing to do with function and everything to do with appearance. Nothing to see here, move along.

I have the leather case I don't have any sctraches on it. Unfortunately I have a scratch on Air 2 and I don't know how it got there since I always take care of it.

And you still don't understand. It is not about dropping it is about scratching. Sport version is impact resistant but their Stainless Steel alloys looks like it is made for daily wearing.

hypothetically If I'm right how you'll deside?

----------

My point is every possible activity or option was not shown for each of the versions. I can use Apple Pay with any version or I can wear any version whilst walking on a treadmill.

I hope so than I'll buy the Sport one. But I'm sceptical :)

Why are you all so reluctant? It is just a thought. It is possible.

True. Apple issued a press release about this after yesterday's event and reiterated that the Watch will automatically shut down after a 1hr max run and won't turn back on for 24 hours to prevent the user from over training. Apple also said the Siri voice on this edition is preprogrammed to refer to the user only as "Dave." /Sarc.

But it isn't really possible. At this point Apple is in far too deep to issue a "clarification" or retraction that would state that the Sport model is somehow less capable than Watch or Edition models. Not happening, you're reading too much into this.

Sheesh. It is amazing to me the things people come up with to complain about. I am getting a Sport and plan on wearing it every minute I'm awake. So what if it gets scratched. As long as I can see the face I'm good to go.

Are people so starved for Apple's marketing that they live their day by it?

You see the product they are offering. Use it however it works for YOU not THEM.

This will come exclusively with the Apple Watch C.

I think they're here already.

I really think you are reading too much into it. Besides the following is on Apple.com next to an image of the Apple Watch Sport:

Apple Watch gives you a complete picture of your all-day activity. The three rings of the Activity app show your daily progress and help motivate you to sit less, move more, and get some exercise. It’s also an advanced sports watch, giving you real-time stats for a variety of the most popular workouts. Over time, Apple Watch learns your activity and fitness levels. It uses that information to improve the accuracy of your measurements and suggest personalized all-day activity goals. It even provides custom reminders to encourage you to achieve them.

If you are getting all-day activity goals, you are gonna have to wear it all day.

As others have said you're reading way to much into things. Apple is simply not repeating the same stuff on each page. As far as the glass goes, no matter what the sapphire glass is the strongest and most scratch resistant. Only one thing is stronger than sapphire and that is diamond. You could literally rub sand paper on the sapphire crystal and it won't scratch it. The ion-x glass is the exact same glass on the iPhone 6 to give you an idea. The heart rate sensor on all versions is protected by sapphire. Only the glass on the face of the watch is different between models.

The wait is killing me.

Is glass on Air 2 same as on iP 6?

Should not spread false information. First, many sandpapers have diamond dust in them. Second, things like tungsten carbide are harder than sapphire. While pretty tough, sapphire will most certainly scratch if you are careless with it, even without a pocket full of diamonds.
