Mines still doing it. Reset seems to fix it for a day or so then it resumes. I’m kind of done with the watch now...I mean I still use it now and then but just accept that this is where we are and move on.

Reset as in a restart, or reset as in an unpairing and re-pairing without restoring?

It's been several weeks now since I did the latter and so far I'm still charging to 100% each day.

I did a unpairing and repairing without restoring and it then worked fine, or so I thought. It charged properly to 100% for over 3 weeks and I thought it was fixed but then it went right back to not charging to full. :(

Only thing I can think of is that for me I know I didn't reinstall all my apps when I did this. Wish I could say which ones I didn't but alas...

reset...I haven’t gone through the drama of a restore or set up as new as it’s always an issue Releasing the esim than re adding it etc....I also don’t think it’s anything to do with apps as I don’t have any 3rd party on my watch.

Yea it’s the new Apple. Everything just kinda works nowadays.
It’s sad but kinda true. Since I’ve stopped using it so much I’m much happier...used to get so annoyed with little things like notifications not working properly...now I’m just like whatever. Ha. I know it shouldn’t be like that!

I am too. For some reason if a feature isn't work even if I never use the feature I feel compelled to fix it. In this case I don't feel there is much we can do.

That said, on my iPhone (and the same phone my AppleWatch is synced to) Keychain wasn't updating. Signing out of iCloud and back in fixed the Keychain issue. Since that time my watch has been charging properly. I'll need to give it several weeks but some sort of syncing issue is what I feel the problem might be (it continually trying to sync). I'll post back if/when it doesn't charge properly again because I don't recommend needlessly signing out of iCloud and back in since its a total PITA due to your credit/debit cards being removed from ApplePay, features of the watch needing to be resync'd, Home.app issues, AirPods telling me they weren't mine, etc etc. Just now I found out I had to turn off 'Unlock Mac with Apple Watch' and back on with my iMac before it would work again. So features on devices that aren't my iPhone have even been affected.

Guys - take note at night when you rest the phone on the charger. I've noticed that if I dont get the watch to "ding" and make the charging animation when placing on the charger - I wake up with the charge not being 100%. Just rotate the watch on the charger left or right and it'll "ding" if it doesnt when you first connect it. Ever since I've made sure the watch does this... I've awoken to 100%.

I was one of the first posting in this thread and I dont know if this is just coincidence but this has solved it for me in the past few weeks.

I do that all the time just to make sure and mine still has the problem soooooo

Exactly the same problem with my Apple Watch Series 3.

Charging stops at around 93-94% and only a restart could temporarily fix the problem for a few nights.

My Apple Watch is on the latest watchOS 4.3 connected to an iPhone X with the latest iOS 11.3.1.

Mine just started doing this last night. Woke up, only at 94%. Time for me to read through this whole topic. Ugh.
I'll save you some time.
People have already tried everything.
Some seem to work for a while, (even weeks) but then the problem just comes back.

Thanks!

Anyone using next beta? Maybe fixed?

It's nothing to do with the current watchOS release. My wife hasn't even updated in months, and her 38mm Watch Series 3 has this issue, along with my 42mm Series 3, which is up to date.

Not to say that the next beta does/doesn't fix it, - just that the current release is not specifically where the issue was introduced.

I wonder what is going to happen if the next update does not fix this?
Are we still going to continue to blame the software or is it a fundamental hardware issue??? Hmmmmm

Still happening to me. Yesterday 100%, today 93%. In a day or two it’ll be back to 100% without my intervention. Sigh.

My SBSS S3 is stuck between 96-97% each night now too. Lol. I’ve joined the club
Welcome to the club! :D
Have you noticed that the watch is unusually warm when you take it off the charger?
This is what bothers me the most. It's not just a possible numeric error thing, but if the watch is getting over-heated in its struggle to get to 100%, this could be a REAL hardware issue and scary.

I haven’t noticed any warmth, fortunately. My old Fossil smartwatch used to sometimes, though.

I was forced restore my watch from a backup (worked flawlessly btw) but yesterday it only charged to 93%. So don’t bother wasting your time restoring the watch, at least not from a back up.

I had to restore mine because I logged out of iCloud on my iPhone and back in because keychain wasn’t updating. While that problem was fixed it wouldn’t sign my watch back in with the error “another device is using that identifier” (or something along those lines). For the most part every feature on the watch worked except it wouldn’t show now playing and other iCloud related things. So I had to remove it from iCloud but still got the error so I had to remove it and then restore it. This finally fixed everything. Well everything except the 93-94% charging issue.

My series 3 is doing it too, I’m gonna guess battery warranty extensions will be in order, as this is what they do when they start to die.

This had nothing to do with a battery issue. If it was then my Series 3 would still be suffering the same ailment. As it is it's been 2 months now since I last had the issue, whereas previously it was every 3 odd days.

Same watch, same battery.
