To be honest, I didn't really care for either watch.

Personally, my taste tends toward the more clean designs of Movado. If you are looking at the $300-$400 range anyways, why not get a truly classic watch you won't get tired of?

I mean there just isn't beating this kind of simplicity. ;)

The Skyhawk ranges from $239 all the way to $300 dollars online depending on model as per the OP's choices, but the Movados are kind of pricey from the ones I have seen. It's certainly a great watch, especially the black and gold classic that most people know about, but then you are in a different category, which I once considered like that Movado, quartz Omegas, and Tutimas in the $750 to $1000 dollar range. I think you can almost get by with a thin, elegant watch by Skagen for around $150 to $250. A gold one would be very similar and maybe somewhat more.

Movado?, anyway, something like this is what I once wanted

This is the classic that is most often seen around where I live. I know Movado makes something more affordable, but I am yet to see one in person. A watch like this can be found online for about $695 and the classic gold museum watch, their early model, with leather band is $1095. Anything with diamonds gets very pricey and is not my taste when it comes to Movado. :)

See for me it comes down to test taking, sometimes I need to be down to the minute; 5 minutes makes a big difference on those Accounting finals. Unfortunately this is one of those things that a phone is a no go. I'd get one, but it would probably be my formal occasion, simple, doesn't clash with my cufflinks type of watch. You can't wear a gold jewel encrusted Rolex all the time.

Yeah, test taking does make a Movado useless.

For me, I'd have a cheap $10 Target watch for test days; if I need accuracy, I'm going digital. :p

Definitely. I have a $100 Skagen, and it's pretty simple and elegant (plus so thin and light).

That is a very nice watch. I used to see them at Sharper Image stores, but the one in my town lost their lease. Rent was too high, I know. I was chairman of my local AIDS project and we considered that same space, but $10K plus for a couple of thousand square feet is stupidly high for rent. But that was in the height of good real estate times. The building down the street, three times the size, once a three million dollar building is on the market for under 700K, so maybe rents have come down, too. Please come back, Sharper Image. :)

Only the first link worked for me. It was a nice watch.

My preference is still Kenneth Cole watches. Usually sell for around $100-$145 and look fantastic. I have bought 3 and everyone compliments what a amazing watch it is.

The only other watches I would ever be interested in buying is a Breitling Bentley watch but the one I like is near $10k. I could never justify spending that much money on a watch though.

I agree with the kc watches. in that price range they are very nice. They tend to be much simpler than what are in the first post, which is not a bad thing.

Don't quote imgs

Me luvs that watch.. Actually they have several styles I like - they're slick, timeless (no pun intended) time pieces.

Mecca I agree about Kenneth Cole - they are nice!

Mine's going on 3 years now and it still looks good.

Of course the minute I get my first paycheck as a a lawyer, the Movado shop is going to be down one watch. :D Not that I don't like mine right now, but you know the deal.

Out of curiosity, what things do you look for in a watch?

We've all been mentioning what we look for, but this could be useless for you.
